action.<\/p>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_happening\"><\/span>What\u2019s happening<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      The yield on the 2-year Treasury<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD02Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">4.361%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 7 basis points to 4.353%. Yields move in the opposite direction to prices.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The yield on the 10-year Treasury<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">3.761%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       retreated 12.8 basis points to 3.751%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      The yield on the 30-year Treasury<br \/>\n        TMUBMUSD30Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">3.866%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n        dropped 11.7 basis points to 3.855%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_driving_markets\"><\/span>What\u2019s driving markets<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h6>\n<p> The new year has started as the previous finished, with major central bankers stressing the need to keep tightening monetary policy to damp inflation, despite warnings from the International Monetary Fund that that the U.S., European Union and China economies are all slowing at the same time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       The December Caixin survey showed Chinese manufacturing contracted for a fifth month in a row as COVID-19 restrictions bit.<\/p>\n<p>European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde told a Croatian <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>paper over the weekend that: \u201cAt the moment, ECB policy rates must be higher to curb inflation and bring it down to our target of 2%\u2026That process is essential because it would be even worse if we allowed inflation to become entrenched in the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>German consumer prices data for December are due for release at 1 p.m. GMT (8 a.m. U.S. Eastern. Ten-year bund yields<br \/>\n        TMBMKDE-10Y,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.000%\" channel=\"\" class=\"\">2.391%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       fell 10 basis points to 2.357%, tracking declines in Treasury yields, as the worries about global growth persisted.<\/p>\n<p>Lagarde\u2019s comments match the rhetoric coming from the U.S. Federal Reserve.
