Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ing their Dec. 27 flight to Portland, Ore., from New Orleans and being unable to book alternative <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Affected passengers \u201ccannot use their airline tickets through no fault of their own and they are not getting the benefit of their bargain with defendant,\u201d the complaint said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/southwest-lawsuit.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Travelers line up at the check-in counters for Southwest Airlines last week,\" class=\"wp-image-25219232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/southwest-lawsuit.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/southwest-lawsuit.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/southwest-lawsuit.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Travelers line up at the check-in counters for Southwest Airlines last week,<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Capdeville, a Marrero, Louisiana resident, is seeking damages for passengers on\u00a0Southwest\u00a0flights canceled since Dec. 24, and who did not receive refunds or expense reimbursements.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>In a statement on Tuesday,\u00a0Southwest\u00a0had no comment on the lawsuit, but said it had \u201cseveral high priority efforts underway to do right by our customers, including processing refunds from canceled flights, and reimbursing customers for expenses incurred as a result of the irregular operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capdeville\u2019s lawyer did not im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely respond to requests\u00a0for additional comment.<\/p>\n<p>The meltdown at Dallas-based\u00a0Southwest\u00a0has been blamed on staffing shortages and outdated flight scheduling software.<\/p>\n<p>Southwest\u00a0has said it would reimburse affected passengers for reasonable expenses such as last-minute hotel, rental car and dining costs, but it might take several weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The carrier largely restored normal operations on Dec. 30, several days after other airlines had recovered from the storm.<\/p>\n<p>In a\u00a0Dec. 29 letter\u00a0to\u00a0Southwest\u00a0Chief Executive Bob Jordan, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called the disruptions \u201cunacceptable\u201d and said the law requires refunds when carriers cancel flights unless passengers accept rebooking.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
