The staffer also admitted, however, that the coffee machines inside the offices are frequently broken.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKick a man while they are down seems to be Goldman\u2019s 2023 mantra,\u201d the first source added. \u201cPeople aren\u2019t jovial from the holiday rest \u2026 now they\u2019re pissed about the loss of coffee, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Goldman rep pointed to the coffee machines Goldman provides. \u201cThere is free coffee available to all employees on every floor \u2013 from drip coffee to espresso drinks,\u201d spokesperson Abbey Collins told The Post. \u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/goldman-sachs-coffee-462.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Goldman Sachs headquarters\" class=\"wp-image-25227089\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/goldman-sachs-coffee-462.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/goldman-sachs-coffee-462.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/goldman-sachs-coffee-462.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>\u201cThere is free coffee available to all employees on every floor,\u201d a Goldman spokesperson said.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But employees employees claim the machines are frequently out of commission, and the ones that do work\u00a0make coffee that \u201csucks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Labor Day, Goldman removed the last vestige of a pandemic perks: The complimentary \u201cgrab and go\u201d coffee station at the entrance of 200 West St. \u2014 stocked with coldbrew, as well as stashes of French vanilla creamer, almond milk, soy milk and half-and-half \u2014 that appeared during the pandemic to encourage attendance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just coffee that has been yanked. In April, Goldman announced that employees were once again on the hook for the cost of breakfast and lunch. It now limits the benefit to employees who work well into the evening, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the brass determined it didn\u2019t need sweeteners to get people back to the office, sources told The Post. In September, Goldman chopped roughly 1% to 5% of underperformers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While every bank on Wall Street is faced with troubling economic conditions, Goldman appears to be in a particularly precarious position. Earlier this week,\u00a0The Post reported\u00a0some Goldman partners believe Solomon isn\u2019t up to the task of running the prestigious firm. Goldman is dwarfed in size by banks like Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan, and insiders feel Solomon hasn\u2019t done enough to compete with the rivals, insiders told The Post\u2019s Charlie Gasparino.<\/p>\n<p>But employees say removing a little boost of caffeine isn\u2019t the way to ramp up revenues. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty f***ed they want us to work 90 hour weeks but can\u2019t get a free cup of coffee in exchange to keep us awake?
