side of history,\u201d that \u201cstaple of progressive rhetoric,\u201d is a \u201cmyth,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefp.com\/p\/there-is-no-right-side-of-history\">argues William Deresiewicz at The Free Press: History<\/a> \u201cdoes not take sides.\u201d The myth \u201cmakes for arrogance and condescension\u201d on the left, a belief that progressives \u201chave the right \u2014 the duty \u2014 to teach others how to live. How to speak, think, eat.\u201d It \u201cauthorizes bad behavior\u201d via an endless \u201ccrisis\u201d that gives permission \u201cto suspend the rules: to bury a story, to suppress dissent, to betray the principles you\u2019re supposed to stand for.\u201d In short: \u201cTalk of the right side of history is, at bottom, propaganda \u2014 an attempt to persuade us that the largest issues have already been decided.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Libertarian_Team_Bidens_%E2%80%98Censorship_by_Proxy\"><\/span><strong>Libertarian: Team Biden\u2019s \u2018Censorship by Proxy\u2019<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>\u2019s moderation of pandemic-related content was intertwined\u201d with Biden administration policy \u201cfrom the beginning,\u201d leading it to \u201csuppress\u201d tweets that were \u201ctruthful\u201d but in conflict with \u201cofficial advice,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/2023\/01\/02\/under-government-pressure-twitter-suppressed-truthful-speech-about-covid-19\/\">fumes Reason\u2019s Jacob Sullum<\/a>. Many tweets on vaccines and pandemic policies were labeled \u201cmisleading\u201d or taken down entirely merely for challenging \u201cestablishment views.\u201d Twitter \u201cwas eager to \u2018partner\u2019 with the White House,\u201d because it had been \u201crepeatedly harangued\u201d \u2014 including by government officials \u2014 \u201cfor not doing enough to suppress \u2018misinformation.\u2019\u200a\u201d In effect, Team Biden \u201cmanaged to impose censorship by proxy\u201d: \u201cActing publicly and behind the scenes, \u2018very angry\u2019 officials have indirectly limited speech that is indisputably protected by the First Amendment.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_right_A_Start_on_Fixing_the_FBI\"><\/span><strong>From the right: A Start on Fixing the FBI<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Charges the FBI \u201chas become too politicized\u201d and should be abolished or reorganized have moved \u201cfrom the fringes,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/let-an-fbi-agent-lead-reform-house-republicans-intelligence-culture-wray-comey-hunter-biden-clinton-11672690330?mod=opinion_lead_pos6\">notes The Wall Street Journal\u2019s William McGurn<\/a>, with \u201ceach revelation of the FBI\u2019s bad behavior \u2014 from running interference for Hunter Biden and lying to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to policing speech on Twitter.\u201d But while a \u201crethinking of the bureau\u2019s mission and clearer guidelines might be needed,\u201d strangely \u201cfew have pushed for a sensible step that would start to address it: choosing FBI directors with experience as agents.\u201d \u201cMany of the bureau\u2019s fiercest critics say the overwhelming majority of agents are professional investigators who do their jobs without regard to politics. That\u2019s precisely the culture the FBI needs. So why not start a reform by picking the next FBI director from their ranks, and returning case decisions where they belong \u2014 to agents in the field?\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Republican_Protect_the_Judiciary\"><\/span><strong>Republican: Protect the Judiciary<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s not just the would-be assassin of Justice Brett Kavanaugh: \u201cAttempts to intimidate Supreme Court Justices\u201d and other federal judges are \u201cbecoming our new normal across America,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/2023-cannot-tolerate-intimidation-judiciary\">Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich thunders at Fox News<\/a>, thanks to a \u201cconcerning rise in tone and rhetoric against our independent judiciary on both sides of the aisle \u2014 but especially from the left.\u201d Worse, \u201cwe have seen the Biden Department of Justice continually look the other way when Republican-<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed justices or judges are targeted for potentially illegal protests.\u201d \u201cThis will not end well for the men and women who serve on our nation\u2019s highest court, which is why Congress and the U.S. Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> must act immediately to prevent a catastrophic tragedy from occurring.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eye_on_NY_Dodging_Unemployment-Fraud_Facts\"><\/span><strong>Eye on NY: Dodging Unemployment-Fraud Facts<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cAfter years of foot-dragging, State Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/opinion\/article\/New-York-is-working-on-fraud-but-can-t-solve-it-17670291.php\">in a Times Union op-ed last week<\/a> finally gave an estimate of how much in unemployment insurance benefits her agency paid out to fraudsters during the Covid-19 pandemic,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.empirecenter.org\/publications\/reardon-finally-puts-a-number-on-ui-fraud-in-new-york\/\">grumbles the Empire Center\u2019s Peter Warren<\/a>. Yet she put it at only $4 billion of the $105 billion in total UI payouts from January 2020 to March 2022, while state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli puts it at $11 billion for just the first COVID year.
