sways the palm trees amid infinite sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>But Hawaii can bring\u00a0rain, too, as people who live along the\u00a0West\u00a0Coast can attest to a few times every fall and winter.<\/p>\n<p>There is a\u00a0specific atmospheric river\u00a0setup where the jet stream will dip to the south into the tropical Pacific Ocean near Hawaii, then gather a bunch of warm, moist air and carry it north and east across the rest of the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>This train of moisture will then dump heavy rain where it reaches land, in either the Pacific\u00a0Northwest\u00a0or\u00a0California.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_a_Pineapple_Express\"><\/span>What is a Pineapple Express?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Many locals call the weather event <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NWSSeattle\/status\/1208133821880647680\">a Pineapple Express<\/a> due to the storm\u2019s Hawaiian origins and the Aloha State\u2019s penchant for pine<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>les.<\/p>\n<p>These storms can bring torrential rain for as long as 2 to 3 days and are well known for producing many\u00a0flooding\u00a0events.<\/p>\n<p>The more significant Pineapple Express storms can carry as much as the equivalent of 10 to 15 inches of rain.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Weather<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The accompanying warm air will also push\u00a0snow\u00a0levels far higher than average, perhaps as high as 6,000 to 8,000 feet in elevation, leaving all of the moisture to fall as rain in the mountains instead of snow and putting tremendous pressure on mountain-fed rivers and streams.<\/p>\n<p>On the surface, Pineapple Express days are marked with unusual warmth, with temperatures reaching well into the 50s and sometimes the 60s in the Pacific Northwest when a high temperature in the 40s is typical.<\/p>\n<div class=\"inline-slideshow\" temperatures that occur in the\u00a0fall\u00a0and\u00a0winter\u00a0are set during dreary, rainy Pineapple Express events instead of the more logical sunny days.<\/p>\n<p>The Pineapple Express is always considered an atmospheric river event, but not all atmospheric rivers are a Pineapple Express.<\/p>\n<p>The source of tropical moisture must originate or pass near Hawaii to earn the name
