So if Binance fights it they risk US exposure\u2026 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9wW6eRTol7\">https:\/\/t.co\/9wW6eRTol7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Cochran (adamscochran.eth) (@adamscochran) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adamscochran\/status\/1610739248767827981?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 4, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>While Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has publicly stated that Binance.US was a \u201cfully independent entity,\u201d an Oct. 17 Reuters report <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/investigates\/special-report\/fintech-crypto-binance-zhao\/\">alleged<\/a> that the U.S. entity acts more like a \u201cde facto subsidiary\u201d which was created to \u201cinsulate Binance from U.S. regulators.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/blog\/from-cz\/our-response-to-the-latest-reuters-story-3429055481452985078?ref=AZTKZ9XS\">response<\/a> to the allegations, CZ suggested in an Oct. 17 blog that Binance was committed to complying with regulators, that the author of the article was reporting in a biased manner and had used a presentation provided by an external consultant which was never implemented as evidence for these claims.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <\/strong><strong><em>\u2018Binance is the crypto market:\u2019 Arcane crowns the exchange 2022\u2019s winner<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Voyager announced on Dec. 19 that it had agreed to Binance.US\u2019s bid to acquire its assets, in a deal worth $1.022 billion in total.<\/p>\n<p>The lender noted in a press release that the bid was the \u201chighest and best bid for its assets,\u201d which would maximize the value returned to customers and creditors \u201con an expedited timeframe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Voyager previously announced on Sep. 27 that FTX.US had won the auction for its assets with an offer of $1.4 billion which would have seen customers recover 72% of their frozen crypto, in a deal that has since fallen through.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
