Crypto firm Juno urges users to withdraw after &#8216;uncertainty&#8217; with custody partner &#8220;<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjMtMDEvMjY4YmQ2NTMtOWUyMC00MWRlLWI0ZmItNTkxYjllYjRhOGQ1LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-6ed77c39>Fiat-to-crypto on-ramp solution provider Juno has urged its users to sell or self-custody the crypto on its platform citing \u201cuncertainty\u201d with its crypto custodian partner Wyre.<\/p>\n<p>In a Jan. 4 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JunoFinanceHQ\/status\/1610639361263140865\">tweet<\/a>, the platform explained it that it doesn&#8217;t hold any of its customer&#8217;s crypto, and relies on its \u201ccrypto partner\u201d for those services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to uncertainty with our crypto partner, we have taken preemptive action in the interest of our customers,\u201d it wrote, adding it\u2019s also actively reaching out to customers to ask them to self-custody. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2\/ Juno as a platform doesn\u2019t custody crypto assets &amp; in question is understood to be\u00a0Wyre, a regulated Money Service Business in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Wyre CEO Ioannis Giannaros reportedly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2023\/01\/03\/wyre-shutdown-crypto-winter\">told<\/a> employees that the firm\u00a0\u201cwill need to unwind [&#8230;] over the next couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the email seen by Axios, Giannaros said the firm was\u00a0\u201cstill operating\u201d but would be \u201cscaling back to plan our next steps.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Juno in its latest <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> thread said there was still $1.25 million worth of crypto assets held on the platform and it has been reaching out to customers to encourage them to self-custody their holdings<\/p>\n<p>Other safeguards employed by Juno for users include temporarily disabling crypto buying on its platform and converting stablecoins to U.S. dollars into users\u2019 government-insured accounts \u201cwhich are FDIC Insured up to $250,000 via our partner bank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It also increased daily withdrawal limits five-fold for all \u201cmetal\u201d account holders, its highest tier account.<\/p>\n<p>Cointelegraph contacted Juno for comment but did not receive an immediate response. Wyre did not respond to multiple requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>US federal agencies release joint statement on crypto asset risks and safe practices<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, Juno users were seemingly able to withdraw funds without issue and the platform claimed its services unrelated to crypto were similarly unaffected.<\/p>\n<p>Juno said it plans to \u201ctransition to a new crypto partner\u201d but is yet to release information on what partner and when the transition will be finalized.
