A musical polymath, Sakamoto made his film debut with the iconic score for Nagisa \u00d4shima\u2019s <em>Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence<\/em> (1983), starring David Bowie. He later won an Oscar with his music for Bernardo Bertolucci\u2019s <em>The Last Emperor<\/em> (1987) and a Golden Globe nomination for his compositions for Alejandro G. I\u00f1\u00e1rritu\u2019s <em>The Revenant<\/em> (2015). The partnership with Kore-eda marks his first work on a high-profile Japanese title in some time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>Monster<\/em> is also Kore-eda\u2019s first Japanese film since he won the Cannes Palme d\u2019Or in 2018 with\u00a0<em>Shoplifters<\/em>. It follows the director\u2019s French film\u00a0<em>The Truth<\/em>, which opened the Venice Film Festival in 2019, and his Korean title\u00a0<em>Broker<\/em>, released earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Story details for\u00a0<em>Monster<\/em>\u00a0are being kept under wraps, but Gaga revealed Thursday that Sakura Ando, the breakout star of <em>Shoplifters<\/em>, will lead the new film\u2019s cast. Rounding out the cast are Nagayama Eita (<em>Hokusai<\/em>), Mitsuki Takahata (<em>Japanese Girls Never Die<\/em>), Akihiro Kakuta (<em>Spring Has Come<\/em>), Shido Nakamura (<em>Twisted Justice<\/em>), Yuko Tanaka (<em>Midnight Diner<\/em>), and child actors Soya Kurokawa and Hinata Hiiragi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Currently in post-production,\u00a0<em>Monster<\/em>\u00a0will release in Japan on June 2, 2023. The release date sets the film up for a potential world premiere in May at Cannes, where Kore-eda is a regular.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    <em>Monster<\/em>\u00a0will be the second movie directed by Kore-eda that he didn\u2019t also write himself, following\u00a0<em>Maborosi<\/em>, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival way back in 1995.\u00a0The new film is <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ed by Yuji Sakamoto, the writer of such Japanese <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TV series<\/a> hits <em>Mother<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Woman<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Matrimonial Chaos<\/em>.
