On Wednesday, Jassy cited an \u201cuncertain economy\u201d while confirming Amazon would cut more than 18,000 jobs early this year.<\/p>\n<p>Like the newly reinstalled Disney CEO Iger, Bezos, Amazon\u2019s founder and the world\u2019s fifth-richest person, may find it difficult to remain on the sidelines, according to Michael Batnick, managing partner of Ritholtz Wealth Management, who floated a potential comeback in a recent blog post <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theirrelevantinvestor.com\/2023\/01\/02\/10-predictions-for-2023\/\">on his predictions for the upcoming year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cJeff Bezos is an extremely rich man who got a lot less rich last year because the company he spent [his life building] is struggling, big time,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MY1w3AAgG6Q\">Batnick later told CNBC<\/a> on Wednesday about his prediction.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/bezos-71.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Jeff Bezos\" class=\"wp-image-25250472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/bezos-71.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/bezos-71.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/bezos-71.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Jeff Bezos is still serving as Amazon\u2019s executive chairman.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is not without precedent. Bob Iger just did this, [former Starbucks CEO] Howard Schultz has pulled this multiple times, so I think it\u2019s possible \u2013 I\u2019m not going to pound the table on this \u2013 but I do think it\u2019s possible that he returns to the helm to steady the ship,\u201d Batnick added.<\/p>\n<p>Iger, 71, shocked the business world last November when he abruptly returned as Disney CEO. Iger ousted his handpicked successor, Bob Chapek, who ran afoul of other company executives following months of middling stock performance and botched handling of various challenges, including the flap over Florida\u2019s controversial \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d bill.<\/p>\n<p>Concerns about Chapek\u2019s leadership grew so extreme that several top executives, including Disney CFO Christine McCarthy, reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roached the company\u2019s board of directors to air their grievances.<\/p>\n<p>So far, there are no signs that Jassy is facing a similar revolt at Amazon. Jassy took over as Amazon\u2019s CEO in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Since stepping down as CEO, Bezos has devoted more of his time to running the private space firm Blue Origin. Jassy has looked to cut expenses during a broader downturn in the tech sector and signs of that consumer spending has slowed ahead of a potential economic recession.<\/p>\n<p>Bezos\u2019 estimated net worth plunged by a whopping $85 billion last year. As of Thursday, he was wealth was estimated at $107 billion, according to Forbes.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon\u2019s layoffs will impact about 1.2% of its 1.5 million global workforce, according to the Wall Street Journal. Most of the cuts will impact Amazon\u2019s corporate wing, which will experience a 5% reduction in staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmazon has weathered uncertain and difficult economies in the past, and we will continue to do so,\u201d Jassy said in a blog post. \u201cThese changes will help us pursue our long-term opportunities with a stronger cost structure.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
