In the System Summary section, check the right-hand pane for &#8220;Secure Boot State&#8221;, which will be set to &#8220;On&#8221;, &#8220;Off&#8221;, or &#8220;Unsupported&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Modern PCs that shipped with Windows 10 or Windows 11 have a feature called Secure Boot\u00a0enabled by default. It keeps your system secure, but you may need to disable Secure Boot to run certain versions of Linux and older versions of Windows. Here\u2019s how to see if Secure Boot is enabled on your PC.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than reboot and poke around in your UEFI firmware or BIOS settings screen, you can find this information in Windows itself.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Check_the_System_Information_Tool_for_Secure_Boot_Status\"><\/span>Check\u00a0the System Information Tool for Secure Boot Status<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You\u2019ll find this information in the System Information panel. Why would you do this? With PowerShell Remoting, you could use PowerShell cmdlets to check if a remote PC has Secure Boot enabled.<\/p>\n<p>This requires you run PowerShell as Administrator. You\u2019ll usually need to restart the PC and press a key during the boot process to access this screen.<\/p>\n<p>If the PC doesn\u2019t have Windows installed, you can check the Secure Boot state by poking around on this screen\u2014look for a \u201cSecure\u201d boot option and see what it\u2019s set to.
