\n Boris Johnson trashed rumors Tuesday that he was considering stepping down as Britain\u2019s prime minister due to ongoing health problems as a result of his nearly fatal brush with COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The Times of London started the rumor when it published a gossip piece detailing a reader\u2019s claim that the father-in-law of Johnson\u2019s chief adviser said the British leader was \u201cstill struggling badly\u201d after becoming infected with the virus earlier this year.<\/p>\n

He\u2019d allegedly compared the 56-year-old political leader to a lame horse, saying he \u201cwill stand down in six months\u201d because of his ongoing health woes.<\/p>\n

But Johnson quickly dismissed the claim as \u201cabsolute nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am feeling, if anything, far better as I\u2019ve lost some weight,\u201d he told DevonLive, boasting of dropping more than 20 pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel much, much better for having lost, by my standards, quite a lot of weight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson has previously conceded that he came close to dying during his three days in intensive care in April as he battled COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The UK Times said its reader heard about Johnson\u2019s health battles from Sir Humphry Wakefield, the father-in-law of one of the prime minister\u2019s closest \u2014 but most controversial \u2014 aides, Dominic Cummings.<\/p>\n

Wakefield allegedly told her that \u201cJohnson is still struggling badly with having had COVID-19 (as if being a new father and needing to babysit Gavin Williamson isn\u2019t tiring enough) and will stand down in six months,\u201d the Times Diary reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you put a horse back to work when it\u2019s injured it will never recover,\u201d he was reported to have told the reader.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
