how best to develop the area around Citi Field \u2013 all while preparing to potentially roll the dice on bringing a casino to the property.<\/p>\n<p>The billionaire hedge funder met and his team with more than 500 neighborhood\u00a0residents at the ballpark and talked about how to turn the adjacent, long dormant Willets Point area\u00a0into a year-round, all-weather entertainment destination.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen said he\u2019s \u201clooking for great ideas\u201d but openly added \u201ca casino is definitely an option\u201d \u2014 despite some in attendance expressing staunch opposition to gambling on the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t expect everyone to support all our ideas, but that\u2019s what this discussion is about,\u201d added Cohen, who\u2019s seriously Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.<\/p>\n<p>Some in attendance protested a casino project, pushing Cohen to back other projects like an amphitheater and building more community recreational space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d rather not have a casino,\u201d said Jeannine Williams of Flushing. \u201cI\u2019d like to see more greenspace, a link to the marina. I\u2019m a biker. I want to see something pretty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Insiders told The Post in November that Cohen and his team\u00a0believe a\u00a0$780 million mixed-used development project\u00a0by city officials \u2014\u00a0which includes building a 25,000-seat stadium for the New York City Football Club, a hotel, and 2,500 units of affordable housing on other land next to Citi Field \u2014 is a big win for Cohen\u2019s expected bid.<\/p>\n<p>Through a new entity created in April called\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gaming.ny.gov\/pdf\/2022-04-15%20New%20Green%20Willets,%20LLC.pdf\">\u201cNew Green Willets,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0Cohen has shelled out at least $334,854 on outside lobbyists trying to secure support for a casino and other business from many state and city officials, records show.\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
