That\u2019s a policy. Angstadt\/<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Media<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> Group\/Reading Eagle via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Seasoned New York attorneys were also left scratching their heads about the seemingly paradoxical move by the DOJ to seek the death penalty in the Saipov case when there is a moratorium on executions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>\u201cEven If the death penalty is in fact imposed, the moratorium would likely prevent Saipov\u2019s execution, at the very least, during Biden\u2019s presidency,\u201d said defense attorney Julie Rendelman.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, that does not mean it will never be imposed when and if a new president with potentially differing positions on the death penalty is elected,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Jeffrey Lichtman, who has repped Joaquin \u201cEl Chapo\u201d Guzman and John Gotti Jr., said the decision to seek the death penalty would waste millions of dollars in taxpayer money \u2013 and suggested it was a ploy by the Biden administration to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear tough on crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrankly it\u2019s idiotic,\u201d Lichtman told The Post. \u201cThere\u2019s no logical explanation for the inconsistency between the Attorney General\u2019s directive and what the Department of Justice is doing now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t even know that a New York jury would vote for the death penalty,\u201d he added. \u201cThis is just Biden trying to appear tough on crime. No other rational explanation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Saipov faces a slew of terrorism, murder and other charges for the attack.\u00a0Opening statements in his trial are scheduled to begin Monday morning before Judge Vernon Broderick in Manhattan federal court.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
