Anderson Cooper questioned Harry about how William didn\u2019t talk to him while they attended school together, according to his book.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cAt the time it hurt,\u201d said Harry. \u201cI couldn\u2019t make sense of it. I was like, \u2018What do you mean? We\u2019re now at the same school. I remember the guilt that I felt\u2026 people that we were meeting were showing more emotion than we were showing\u2026 I talk about how wet people\u2019s hands were.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>He explained that he couldn\u2019t understand why people\u2019s hands were damp \u2014 but it was from wiping their own tears. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do remember one of the strangest parts to it was taking flowers from people and then placing those flowers with the rest of them,\u201d Harry said, looking a tad squeamish. \u201cAs if I was some sort of middle person for their grief. She would never do this to us, but also part of, maybe this is all part of a plan,\u201d said Harry. \u201cThen that she would call us and that we would go and join her, yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harry said that William had \u201csimilar thoughts\u201d and he held onto this belief for \u201cyears.\u201d But when he was 20, he asked to see the police report about the crash that killed his mother, in order to have \u201cproof.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProof that she was in the car. Proof that she was injured. I don\u2019t think I do. And I don\u2019t think my brother does, either. <\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think the world does.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Drinking_and_drugs\"><\/span><strong>Drinking and drugs<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Cooper questioned Harry about his use of pot and cocaine in the past. Harry said he did it in the years following his mother\u2019s death, as a response. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI resorted to drinking heavily. Because I wanted to numb the feeling, or I wanted to distract myself from how\u2026whatever I was thinking. And I would, you know, resort to drugs as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that he thinks using as psychedelics, Ayahuasca, psilocybin, mushrooms, helped him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey cleared away this idea that I had in my head that I needed to cry to prove to my mother that I missed her. In his \u201c60 Minutes\u201d interview, he continued to blast her. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t think it was necessary,\u201d he said. \u201cWe thought that it was gonna cause more harm than good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said that her need to rehabilitate her image from a \u201cvillain\u201d in the British press made her \u201cdangerous\u201d because of the connections that she was making with the tabolids. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd there was open willingness on both sides to trade of information. And here we are\u2026The fact that she was American, an actress, divorced, Black, biracial with a Black mother. Those were just four of the typical stereotypes that is\u2013 becomes a feeding frenzy for the British press.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_royals_read_the_tabloids\"><\/span><strong>The royals read the tabloids<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Harry said that part of his family\u2019s mistrust in Markle was because they read the press themselves. \u201cMy family read the tabloids, you know? It\u2019s laid out at breakfast when everyone comes together,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, whether you walk around saying you believe it or not, it\u2019s still leaving an imprint in your mind. But his dad and brother weren\u2019t happy, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey felt as though it made them look bad. They felt as though they didn\u2019t have a chance or weren\u2019t able to do that for their partners. What Meghan had to go through was similar in some part to what Kate and what Camilla went through, very different circumstances.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Markle\u2019s race made her situation different, which is family couldn\u2019t understand, he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went into this incredibly na\u00efve. I had no idea the British press were so bigoted. He elaborated to Cooper that Willam shoved him and he landed on a dog bowl, cutting his back. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cIt was at a time where he was being told certain things by people within his office. And at the same time, he was consuming a lot of the tabloid press, a lot of the stories. And he had a few issues, which were based not on reality,\u201d said Harry. \u201cAnd I was defending my wife. And he was coming for my wife\u2026through the things that he was saying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He didn\u2019t specify what William said about Markle. \u201cWe moved from one room into the kitchen. And his frustrations were growing, and growing, and growing. He was shouting at me. I was shouting back at him. It wasn\u2019t nice. It wasn\u2019t pleasant at all. And he snapped. And he pushed me to the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harry said that William apologized afterwards, but it was a \u201cnasty\u201d experience. \u201cHe knocked me over. I landed on the dog bowl. I cut my back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>William asked Harry not to tell anyone, he said, but Markle noticed the cut on his back.<\/p>\n<p>When Cooper asked Harry if he and William speak or text, Harry said, \u201cCurrently, no.
