\n Mike Clevinger is getting another chance.<\/p>\n

After getting banished to Cleveland\u2019s alternate site with fellow pitcher Zach Plesac for breaking COVID-19 protocol on a road trip<\/a> \u2014 and then lying about it \u2014 Clevinger will slot in to a vacant spot in the rotation for Wednesday\u2019s start against the Twins. Clevinger has app<\/a>eared in just three game<\/a>s this season, most recently pitching on Aug. 5.<\/p>\n

The right-hander was scheduled to start on Aug. 11, but was scratched following the revelation of his escapade. He was then demoted on Aug. 14.<\/p>\n

Indians president Chris Antonetti said the team currently doesn\u2019t plan to bring Plesac back up yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel our team is ready to have Clev back,\u201d Antonetti said. \u201cMike has had a chance to reflect over the course of the last week to 10 days and is really eager to rejoin the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the incident, teammates weren\u2019t eager for Clevinger \u2014 or Plesac \u2014 to come back.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey hurt us bad. They lied to us. They sat here\u2026and publicly said things they didn\u2019t follow through on,\u201d pitcher Adam Plutko said. \u201cI\u2019ll let them sit here and tell you how they\u2019re gonna earn our trust back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since debuting with the Indians in 2016, Clevinger, 29, has gone 42-22 with a 3.20 ERA.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
