His daughter, Claudia Kalb, told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/01\/08\/business\/media\/bernard-kalb-dead.html\">the New York Times<\/a> that the fall occurred on Jan. 2.<\/p>\n<p>He served as the first host of CNN\u2019s now-defunct <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> analysis show following its debut in 1992. He remained in the role until 2001, when he was succeeded by co-host Howard Kurtz, who was a media critic at the Washington Post at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Kalb\u2019s stewardship kicked off a successful run for \u201cReliable Sources,\u201d which was CNN\u2019s longest-tenured program before it was canceled last August. The network fired the show\u2019s host Brian Stelter but the brand remains active in the form of a media <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter.<\/p>\n<p>Kalb worked as a print journalist for years before making the switch to television. He resigned in protest in 1986 after a news report exposed a government-backed disinformation effort aimed at destabilizing Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy\u2019s regime.
