Kathy Hochul\u2019s Court of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>eals chief pick Hector LaSalle is a fire-breathing right-winger. It\u2019s utter garbage, if you simply look at the cases the critics cite as evidence. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>LaSalle is accused of failing to \u201cunderstand\u201d an alleged \u201cthreat to women\u2019s rights\u201d<strong> <\/strong>because he joined a <em>unanimous <\/em>2017 appellate court ruling limiting the scope of a state Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> subpoena aimed at an abortion-alternative non-profit. The subpoena would\u2019ve required information (like the educational credentials of its entire staff) <em>miles<\/em> beyond the scope of any legitimate investigation,<strong> <\/strong>a demand clearly made from pure political animus as part of a fishing expedition by New York progs. No: LaSalle (and the rest of the court) made the right call.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He \u201crode roughshod\u201d over due process in a 2014 majority decision when he joined a ruling that a defendant who, on his lawyer\u2019s advice, waived his right to appeal while pleading guilty to a weapons charge had in fact . . . waived his right to appeal. The claim that having ruled against the perp here makes LaSalle a foe of due process is moronic.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A claim about a 2015 case allegedly proving LaSalle \u201cempowered management to harass labor\u201d is equally absurd. The judge (siding once again with the majority) decided that a large employer was allowed to sue people in the leadership of the union representing its workers for allegedly defamatory statements made by those people <em>not<\/em> in their capacity as union members. LaSalle was following the precedent, which does not magically protect union leaders from <em>all<\/em> legal repercussions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words, LaSalle follows the law, rather than the far-left wish list. His critics are plainly pushing for a chief judge (and swing vote on the state\u2019s top court) who\u2019ll <em>twist<\/em> the law, legislating the progressive agenda from the bench so voters can\u2019t revolt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why extremist insiders led by state Sen. Mike Gianaris (D-Queens) are stacking the Judiciary Committee against him ahead of his confirmation hearing: They want the facts to be irrelevant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That power play, incidentally, is outraging judges\u00a0across the spectrum, even as other extremists rally against the man who\u2019d be New York\u2019s first Hispanic chief judge.<\/p>\n<p>If they get their way, New York\u2019s legal system becomes another far-left power center \u2014 and the exodus of sane, productive people from the Empire State accelerates.\u00a0\u00a0\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
