The uptight return was a brutally uncomfortable three hours in which the celeb crowd was as sober as a third-grade hall monitor and petrified of having even a second of fun.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>God forbid they put on an enjoyable ceremony for a rapidly dwindling audience.<\/p>\n<p>Why on earth would we at home want to put up with such drudgery again? Fun is the sole reason the Globes exist. The Oscars class things up (well, except Will Smith) and the Globes crass things up. Past hosts Ricky Gervais and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey used to play with fire as they eviscerated Hollywood with their vicious barbs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Instead, for 2023, the slog was mournful, zombie-like and banished to a Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>Annoyed viewers who picked the Globes over \u201cThe Rookie\u201d on CBS watched as host Jerrod Carmichael lethargically took aim at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for its controversial past \u2014 \u201cOne minute, I\u2019m making tea at home, the next I\u2019m invited to be the black face of an embattled white organization,\u201d he said to near silence. Thank you so much for this incredible honor, you deplorable racists!<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Here are some of the wins, even though they don\u2019t matter anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Best motion picture \u2013 drama went to Steven Spielberg\u2019s acclaimed \u201cThe Fabelmans,\u201d while motion picture \u2013 comedy or musical was won by \u201cThe Banshees of Inisherin,\u201d which had been behind in the race. HBO\u2019s \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d was named best TV show \u2013 drama and ABC\u2019s \u201cAbbott Elementary,\u201d best TV show \u2013 comedy or musical.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Bassett getting the supporting actress in a motion picture prize for \u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever\u201d over Jamie Lee Curtis in \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once\u201d was a shocker that won\u2019t change her Oscar chances. S<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ed of joy, brashness, zingers and a wild party atmosphere, the Globes gave no compelling reason to continue to be a live telecast rather than an email <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter. Yes, Quan, Spielberg and Jennifer Coolidge\u2019s speeches were wonderful, but you\u2019ll likely get to hear them again at the Oscars and Emmys anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Carmichael, an otherwise talented co<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>n, was a horrible host. His opening monologue about being offered a gig nobody in Hollywood wanted went on for an eternity and established a sleepy and lecturing tone that the show couldn\u2019t shake. Embarrassingly, NBC wouldn\u2019t splurge for a band, so a piano player named Chloe Flower banged out moody theme songs on a Steinway. The affair felt like a Beverly Hills wake.<\/p>\n<p>And the dolled-up corpse? The Golden Globe Awards. Like my lease, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association only has a one-year contract with NBC.
