Out of the total 43706 nodes hosted across 134 countries, the U.S. hosts 9999 or 30.53%, while Germany ranks second with 4529 (13.83%) nodes, confirms <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bitnodes.io\/nodes\/all\/\">data<\/a> from Bitnodes.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-01\/ec953cbf-4d93-4289-b91b-0653895d5ac9.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>List of top 10 countries with most number of Bitcoin nodes. Source: Bitnodes<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, when it comes to the contribution of individual cities, Frankfurt was found to host the largest number of IPv4\/IPv6 Bitcoin nodes at the time of writing. Nearly 2% or 652 nodes remain active in Frankfurt. In the second spot is Ashburn, U.S., with 517 (1.58%) nodes, as shown below. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-01\/1451f4f5-2f56-4f0a-87af-bf60de94f2a9.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>List of top 10 cities with most number of Bitcoin nodes. Source: Bitnodes<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Due to factors such as ISP firewalls and private networks, nearly 18% or 5865 Bitcoin nodes were not attributed to any specific location \u2014 aiding Satoshi Nakamoto\u2019s vision for a truly decentralized payments system. The top 10 cities with the highest Bitcoin nodes include Helsinki, Toronto, London, Amsterdam, Moscow, Tokyo, Dublin and Nuremberg. <\/p>\n<p>Distributed across 5773 cities worldwide, over 60% and 14% of the nodes run on IPv4 and IPv6 protocols, respectively, while more than 25% run anonymously on .onion. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Lightning Network gets physical form in Australia with Bitcoin ATM<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amid skyrocketing hash rates and increased adoption, the growth of the Bitcoin ATM network seemed stagnant over the past six months. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-01\/bcf16ce0-6b7e-4ace-a93a-4499a0c683da.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Chart showing the number of bitcoin machines installed over time.
