Domestic flights were allowed to begin taking off again around 9 a.m. once the issue was resolved.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>The agency announced on Wednesday night that the outage was likely the result of a\u00a0\u201cdamaged database file.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FAA is working diligently to further pinpoint the causes of this issue and take all needed steps to prevent this kind of disruption from h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening again,\u201d the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Airlines scramble to catch up <\/strong><\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Thousands of U.S. flights were delayed or canceled in the wake of the ground stop on Wednesday, leaving airlines scrambling to catch up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More than half of flights from three major U.S. airlines \u2014 Southwest, American and United \u2014 were delayed on Wednesday. Delta, the last of the \u201cBig Four\u201d airlines, saw about 40 percent of its flights delayed.<\/p>\n<p>Another 10 percent of Southwest\u2019s flights were canceled, as were seven percent of American\u2019s flights. United and Delta were both able to avoid substantial cancellations, cutting 4 percent and 2 percent of flights, respectively.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>All four airlines have said they are offering <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ers some form of waiver to rebook flights if needed. Those who had their flights canceled \u2014 and, in some cases, those who simply no longer wished to travel \u2014 can request refunds through the airlines as well.<\/p>\n<p>It was unclear Wednesday night if delays from the outage would continue into Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Delta said in a statement, \u201cWhile potential for additional delays and cancels continue, Delta expects minimal residual impact, if any, on Thursday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The other major airlines did not respond to questions about continued delays.<\/p>\n<p>Buttigieg on Wednesday afternoon promised to figure out what went wrong and fix the problem. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a government system, we\u2019re going to own it, we\u2019re going to find it, and we\u2019re going to fix it,\u201d Buttigieg told reporters. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
