\u201cask me anything\u201d on Wednesday \u2014 only to ignore questions about his ties to the convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.<\/p>\n<p>Gates, the Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist, fielded questions <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IAmA\/comments\/109eze3\/im_bill_gates_and_im_back_for_my_11th_ama_ask_me\/\">during a Reddit \u201cAMA\u201d<\/a> in which he opined on his favorite rock band (U2), the need to combat climate change, taxation of the wealthy, his ownership of US farmland and which television shows he enjoyed the most in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>But he wouldn\u2019t touch the hot-button question of his prior relationship with Epstein, the wealthy financier who hanged himself in a Manhattan jail cell while awaiting federal trial on sex trafficking charges in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy did you continue associating with Jeffrey Epstein after he was convicted of being a pedo?\u201d a Redditor who goes by the handle \u201calwayshazthelinks\u201d wrote to Gates. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd against your then-wife\u2019s advice and wishes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reference was to Epstein\u2019s prior conviction in 2008 when he admitted in a Florida court to procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"631\" height=\"1024\" noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/bill-gates-ex-wife-melinda-relationship-jeffrey-epstein-hurt-marriage-1684812\">article with the headline<\/a>: \u201cBill Gates\u2019 Ex-Wife Melinda Says His Relationship With Jeffrey Epstein Hurt Marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Reddit user then posed a follow-up question: \u201cWhy did you funnel donations through Epstein as opposed to publicly donating via your well-known \u2018philanthropic\u2019 foundation?<\/p>\n<p>Last March, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/03\/03\/melinda-gates-bills-work-with-epstein-played-role-in-divorce\/?_gl=1*1gey25r*_ga*Njk0OTk1MzEzLjE2NjczMTA0NDM.*_ga_0DZ7LHF5PZ*MTY3MzU0OTE0MS4xMzIuMC4xNjczNTQ5MTQxLjAuMC4w&amp;_ga=2.29948923.539069908.1673353917-694995313.1667310443\">Melinda King<\/a> of \u201cCBS This Morning\u201d that it was \u201cnot one thing but many things\u201d that led to the end of her 27-year marriage to Gates. He was evil personified. My heart breaks for these women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bill Gates provided a statement to CBS which read: \u201cMeeting with Epstein was a mistake that I regret deeply.
