The review, which began several months ago, is focused on how Khemlani speaks to women and employees of color, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the investigation Khemlani had been subjected to a \u201c360 performance review\u201d by his bosses and direct reports. That\u2019s despite Khemlani winning praise for revamping CBS News\u2019 streaming operation and the news network nabbing big scoops on the classified Biden documents, Britney Griner\u2019s release from a Russian prison, Prince Harry\u2019s explosive \u201c60 Minutes\u201d interview and luring a few notable hires such as journalist Robert Costa. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not commenting on rumors or speculation,\u201d a rep for CBS said. <\/p>\n<p>Cheeks could not be reached for comment. In March, Khemlani held meetings with competitor Brian Williams, who left MSNBC last year. He also considered <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/cbs-news-mulling-anchor-shakeup-gayle-king-norah-odonnell-2021-9#:~:text=New%20CBS%20News%20chief%20Neeraj,King%20and%20Norah%20O'Donnell.\">NBC\u2019s Craig Melvin<\/a> and even mulled promoting Tony Dokoupil, co-anchor at \u201cCBS Mornings,\u201d to helm the last-place news program, The Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Donnell\u2019s camp complained to Cheeks and Shari Redstone, the chair of Paramount Global, going above Khemlani to hammer out a new deal for the anchor in April, sources said at the time. An insider said O\u2019Donnell\u2019s new contract proves that she \u201cwon\u201d and is \u201crunning the show,\u201d pointing to her longtime ally Adam Verdugo being promoted to executive producer, leapfrogging over senior producers Arturo Rhymes and Elizabeth Turner.<\/p>\n<p>Khemlani\u2019s cringeworthy moments \u2014 which have included telling staffers \u201cyour job is to listen not to talk,\u201d and harassing underlings with around-the-clock emails and phone calls \u2014 came to a head when CBS News staffers blasted the exec in a companywide survey in May.\u00a0Cheeks responded at June 2 town hall meeting that the company needs to prioritize work-life balance. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/cbs-hr-dispute-02.jpg?w=1024\" alt=\"Khemlani was the subject of a 360 performance review and attended counseling to learn how to soften his management style, sources said. \" class=\"wp-image-25343295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/cbs-hr-dispute-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/cbs-hr-dispute-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/01\/cbs-hr-dispute-02.jpg?quality=75&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Khemlani was the subject of a 360 performance review and attended counseling to learn how to soften his management style, sources said. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>According to a transcript of the meeting obtained by The Post, Khemlani and McMahon also formed a \u201cdiversity and inclusion council\u201d to \u201cfoster and cultivate a culture of belonging and well-being.\u201d Khemlani stressed the importance of attracting \u201cunderrepresented employees\u201d and said he would \u201cgo on a listening tour\u201d and \u201cget actionable advice\u201d on how to improve the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Khemlani\u2019s efforts mimicked attempts under prior news presidents to form employee-led advisory committees, a source said, opining that they were a \u201cwaste of time\u201d because the findings are never made public and are hardly implemented<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time there\u2019s a crisis, CBS launches these committees,\u201d the source said. \u201cThis is just horses\u2013t. If you want to do something, you do it. You don\u2019t have another advisory committee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sources said Khemlani has taken a more friendly approach following an HR complaint lodged against him last year by a female African-American vice president of human resources at the network. The exec filed the complaint after Khemlani allegedly voiced frustration that he was not receiving direct communication from her superior, according to a source familiar with the situation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeeraj was having issues and wondered why he was not getting more feedback from the No. 1 HR person, and not their No. 2 lieutenants,\u201d the source said. \u201cOne of the lieutenants took offense and thought it was done because of racism and retaliation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khemlani is a Singaporean-born American.\u00a0\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
