The airline\u2019s name remained on the building until 2021.<\/p>\n<p>FTX was the third-largest cryptocurrency exchange, though it ended up with billions of dollars\u2019 worth of losses \u2014 estimates range from $8 billion to $10 billion \u2014 before seeking bankruptcy protection after a spectacular crash that took only a few days.<\/p>\n<p>Its founder,\u00a0Sam Bankman-Fried, 30, was arrested last month\u00a0in the Bahamas and extradited to the U.S. to face criminal charges in what U.S. Attorney Damian Williams has called \u201cone of the biggest frauds in American history.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried has been released on bail and is scheduled to go on trial in October.
