He was 83. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> was confirmed by Tufano\u2019s agent at McKinney Macartney Management, with Jon Wardle, director of the U.K.\u2019s National Film and Television School \u2014\u00a0where Tufano had previously worked as a department head \u2014 posting a tribute on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cVery sorry to have to share that Cinematography legend and former @NFTSFilmTV Head of Department Brian Tufano has died,\u201d Wardle wrote. \u201cHe shot so many amazing films and did so much to champion new talent, in particular female DPs. We loved him and will REALLY miss him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Beginning his career at the BBC as a projectionist, Tufano worked his way up to cameraman within the film department in 1963 and would work on small-screen features with directors including Stephen Frears, Ken Russell and Alan Parker while at the broadcaster. His first feature film, having gone freelance in the mid-1970s, would be <em>The Sailor\u2019s Return<\/em> for director Jack Gold, while he would later lens cult 1979 Brit drama <em>Quadrophenia<\/em>. In the 1980s, he would provide additional cinematographer for Jordon Cronenweth on<em> Blade Runner. <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Tufano first worked with Boyle on the 1993 TV mini<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> <em>Mr. Wroe\u2019s Virgins,<\/em> sparking a creative partnership that would switch to features the following year with the director\u2019s breakout debut, <em>Shallow Grave<\/em>, and later including groundbreaking global smash <em>Trainspotting<\/em> and <em>A Life Less Ordinary<\/em>. The two also worked on the 2008 short film <em>Alien Love Triangle. <\/em>Other credits would include <em>East Is East<\/em>, <em>Billy Elliott<\/em> (starring a young Jamie Bell and for which Tufano would receive a BAFTA nomination) and <em>Once Upon a Time in the Midlands<\/em>, while with<em> Jump Boy<\/em>, <em>Kidulthood<\/em>, <em>Adulthood<\/em> and <em>Everywhere and Nowhere<\/em>, Tufano enjoyed a four-film collaboration with director Menhaj Huda. Tufano\u2019s final film was the 2011 documentary <em>Gymnast<\/em>. In 2001, he won the BAFTA Award for outstanding contribution to film and television.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Speaking to David A. Ellis of\u00a0<em>filmint<\/em> in 2016 about his career, Tufano said: \u201cI always wanted to work with camera when I was at school. There was nothing else in my mind but it was the process of getting there. \u2026 I find I can adapt to each director easily. I used to prefer it when the director was standing next to me and next to the camera. They were involved with the actors and the crew.
