What are they doing? They\u2019ve decided that it\u2019s time for more political stunts and theater.\u201c\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The call was set up after a difficult week for the White House that found Democrats struggling at times to explain why documents had been taken to Biden\u2019s garage and office, and why the public hadn\u2019t been told about them until Jan. 10 \u2014 when the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> first broke about the discovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The White House first discovered that classified documents from Biden\u2019s time as vice president had been taken to the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 2 \u2014 before the midterm elections and after Biden and other Democrats had blasted Trump over classified documents at Mar-a-Lago found earlier in the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The White House Counsel\u2019s Office notified the National Archives of the discovery days later\u00a0and the Archives then notified the Department of Justice. Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Merrick Garland last week <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointed a special counsel to look into the issue after Garland had previously appointed a special counsel to look into the Trump classified documents matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, days after House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) asked if the White House had a visitor log for Biden\u2019s Wilmington, Del., residence, Biden\u2019s team sought to go on offense by accusing the GOP overreaching on the issue. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Comer, in an interview with CNN, also called Biden\u2019s residence a \u201ccrime scene\u201d after the classified documents were discovered at Biden\u2019s home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Sams and others say the GOP fury over the found Biden documents stands in sharp contrast to the more blas\u00e9 reaction many Republicans had to the discovery of classified documents at Trump\u2019s home. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Democrats also have argued the two situations are very different because of the level of cooperation Biden has sought to maintain in alerting the Archives to the discovery. Trump, in contrast, largely stiff-armed the Archives, they say. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the documents at Mar-a-Lago were in a Florida estate where hundreds of guests come and go for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> occasions. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re faking outrage even though they defended the former president\u2019s actions,\u201d Sams told reporters on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>White House aides and allies pointed to the irony of Comer\u2019s remarks in August when he brushed off Trump\u2019s possession of classified materials.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat I\u2019ve seen that the National Archives was concerned about Trump having in his possession didn\u2019t amount to a hill of beans,\u201d Comer told Newsmax at the time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>In November, Comer also told CNN that a House investigation into Trump\u2019s\u00a0Mar-a-Lago\u00a0documents would \u201cnot be a priority.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.),\u00a0who served as the chief investigator in the first impeachment of Trump,\u00a0told The Hill it\u2019s \u201cjust the latest example of House Republicans abusing their oversight authority and demanding things they have argued against in the past.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe American people are tired of Republican hypocrisy and Chairman Comer is not off to a good start, he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr5_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Basil Smikle, a Democratic strategist and the director of the public policy program at Hunter College, said Republicans like Comer were \u201cwilling to shield Trump from any public of governmental scrutiny while he was president but are hypocritically intent upon using all available congressional power at their disposal to unpack Biden\u2019s life, shame him and discredit Democrats.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In many ways, White House officials and their allies are happy to have this fight with Republicans, allies say because they are taking the bet that Trump\u2019s baggage on this issue is worse than their own and has the potential of backfiring.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>White House allies say Republicans will have a tough time explaining why Trump held on to the documents and then resisted the FBI. Biden, on the other hand has fully cooperated with the Department of Justice and the appointed special counsel.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr6_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s ludicrous,\u201d one Democratic strategist close to the White House said of the GOP.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo they really want to go there?\u201d said one Democratic strategist close to the White House. \u201cDidn\u2019t their guy have many more documents at his home? Didn\u2019t he try and stop people from taking them back?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have used the controversy to blunt Biden\u2019s trajectory weeks ahead of his expected announcement for reelection.\u00a0They\u2019ve sought to use the episode to paint Biden as corrupt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr7_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden are just a Delaware version of the Sopranos,\u201d former House Speaker Newt Gingrich wrote on Twitter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Republican strategist Doug Heye said it\u2019s fair <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongress tends not to deeply investigate a White House of the same party,\u201d Heye said. \u201cThat was true of Democrats last Congress and of Republicans under Trump.\u201c\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And he predicted that the controversy wouldn\u2019t backfire on the GOP. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis cuts at Biden\u2019s argument that he and his team\u00a0of pros won\u2019t make the mistakes Trump and his Addams Family team made \u2014 on something Biden specifically criticized.
