The landlocked country is recognized for its role in the inception of Ethereum (ETH), and is home to\u00a0Crypto Valley\u00a0\u2014\u00a0a favorable environment for blockchain and cryptocurrency companies. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-01\/82aa7213-97bc-4aff-8301-4eba848f6dee.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\">Switzerland is known for &#8220;Crypto Valley,&#8221; in the canton of Zug.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Switzerland also boasts the Bitcoin and crypto-friendly city of Lugano, which hosts an annual Bitcoin conference and has even onboarded McDonald&#8217;s into accepting Bitcoin Lightning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:\u00a0Putting carbon credits on blockchain won\u2019t solve the problem alone: Davos<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, even in Switzerland, crypto confidence took a knock in 2022, particularly in light of the FTX debacle and its contagion effects across crypto: \u201cIt\u2019s a setback for the industry. It has destroyed a lot of trusts and\u2013you know\u2013has also left a lot of investors harmed,\u201d Klee explained.<\/p>\n<p>In such an environment it\u2019s useful to hark back to historic Swiss values. Switzerland is still a \u201csafe safe place to do business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe Swiss finish, the Swiss quality is a narrative and is a quality sign that this industry needs because\u2013you know\u2013you need to have a trusted place.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thousands of crypto enthusiasts have flocked to the crypto and blockchain events at the World Economic Forum.
