\n Cameron Diaz\u2019s new \u201cclean wine\u201d only debuted two months ago \u2014 but it\u2019s already not aging well.<\/p>\n

The A-lister\u2019s Avaline white wine \u2014 which sells for $24 a bottle \u2014 earned a \u201cD-rating\u201d in a new survey of nearly 400 households. Diaz\u2019s vino was voted least favorite of \u201ccelebrity white wines,\u201d while wine from musicians Sting and Dave Matthews generated the best buzz \u2014 tying for the top spot.<\/p>\n

The happ<\/a>ily \u201cretired\u201d actress \u2014 last seen in the 2014 musical debacle \u201cAnnie\u201d \u2014 has said she and biz partner Katherine Power were motivated to make wine when they repeatedly found themselves getting headaches after their second pour.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we asked ourselves, \u2018Maybe there\u2019s a way to make wine better for us?\u2019\u2009\u201d Diaz, 47, recently told Jimmy Fallon, 45, on \u201cThe Tonight Show.\u201d In an Instagram video with Power, 36, she explained how she was shocked to discover wineries are allowed to incorporate 73 additives.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really, honestly, I thought it was just fermented grapes,\u201d said Diaz, adding that she struggled to source brands made with organic grapes and zero pesticides at shops and restaurants.<\/p>\n

However, the \u201cThere\u2019s Something About Mary\u201d star\u2019s positive messaging still left a bad taste in some critics\u2019 mouths \u2014 and pocketbooks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to clean wines, the only thing being cleaned is your wallet,\u201d Felicity Carter, editor of Meininger\u2019s Wine Business International magazine, griped to the Guardian after Diaz appeared in a Goop \u201chealth\u201d video with Gwyneth Paltrow, 47.<\/p>\n

Carter wasn\u2019t the only critic. With star-powered wines pulling so much focus, expert oenophile and author Mark Oldman wanted to determine which star\u2019s beverage was best, and hosted his first virtual \u201cCelebrity White Wine Showdown\u201d survey.<\/p>\n

The big takeaway: Entertainers should stick to what they know.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost everyone (88%) agreed that celebrities should not call themselves winemakers \u2014 that is a title best left to trained professionals,\u201d said Oldman, 51, who wrote the book \u201cHow To Drink Like a Billionaire: Mastering Wine With Joie de Vivre\u201d as well as other boozy titles.<\/p>\n

With 386 households logged in via (what else?) Zoom on Aug. 18, Oldman instructed his survey group on how to evaluate white wine and then presented the contenders.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under scrutiny were five celeb-hyped white wines by Diaz, Matthews, Zac Brown, Lisa Vanderpump and Sting and Trudie Styler. (Drew Barrymore\u2019s Carmel Road Chardonnay was disqualified before the event as the actress is no longer associated with the label.) Note: Attendees purchased the wines in advance of the tasting.<\/p>\n
