(AP) \u2014 A frustrated President Joe Biden said Thursday there is \u201cno there there\u201d when he was persistently questioned about the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-politics-united-states-government-hillary-clinton-karine-jean-pierre-58228d94cdcfe4ebe00521b049037868\" data-ylk=\"slk:discovery of classified documents\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">discovery of classified documents<\/a> and official records at his home and former office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe found a handful of documents were filed in the wrong place,\u201d Biden said to reporters who questioned him during a tour of the damage from storms in California. \u201cWe im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden said he was \u201cfully cooperating and looking forward to getting this resolved quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think you&#8217;re going to find there&#8217;s nothing there,\u201d he said. \u201cThere&#8217;s no there there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-politics-united-states-government-812ef44a5333f6d93423a67a683fa024\" data-ylk=\"slk:The White House has disclosed\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">The White House has disclosed<\/a> that Biden attorneys found classified documents and official records on four occasions in recent months \u2014 on Nov. 2 at the offices of the Penn Biden Center in Washington, and then in follow up searches on Dec. 20 in the garage of the president\u2019s home in Wilmington, Delaware, and on Jan. 11 and 12 in the president\u2019s home library.<\/p>\n<p>The discovery complicates a federal probe into former President Donald Trump, who the Justice Department says took hundreds of records marked classified with him upon leaving the White House in early 2021 and resisted months of requests to return them to the government.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-classified-documents-trump-side-by-side-fb2c4ebccdbdbb9039c1c5e227b1da53\" data-ylk=\"slk:The two cases are different\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">The two cases are different<\/a> \u2014 Biden for example, willingly turned over the documents once found. But the issue is wearing on the president and his aides, who have repeatedly said they acted swiftly and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriately when the documents were discovered, and are working to be as transparent as possible though key questions remain unanswered.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/classified-documents-biden-home-wilmington-33479d12c7cf0a822adb2f44c32b88fd\" data-ylk=\"slk:Attorney General Merrick Garland\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">Attorney General Merrick Garland<\/a> last week appointed Robert Hur, a former Maryland U.S. attorney, to serve as special counsel to oversee the Justice Department\u2019s inquiry into the documents. Garland said the extraordinary circumstances warranted a special counsel, and he also made the decision in part to show the Justice Department\u2019s \u201ccommitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hur is taking over for federal prosecutor John Lausch, who was initially asked to review the documents and whose team has already been interviewing former Biden aides responsible for packing up boxes during his time as vice president. It has occasionally led to heated exchanges between reporters and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in the White House briefing room.
