The Stand<\/i> is getting ready for its arrival on CBS All Access, and the new Stephen King series now has its premiere date. Fans of the author waiting for the series to air will see it arrive in December.<\/p>\n

Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd, James Marsden, Odessa Young, Jovan Adepo, Amber Heard, Owen Teague, Henry Zaga, Brad William Henke, Greg Kinnear, Irene Bedard, and Nat Wolf star in this series which follows what happ<\/a>ens after a virus kills many in the world leaving two sides to battle it out.<\/p>\n

CBS All Access revealed more about the premiere of the series in a press release. Check that out below.<\/p>\n

\u201cCBS All Access, ViacomCBS\u2019 digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, announced its highly anticipated limited event series THE STAND<\/i> will premiere on Thursday, Dec. 17<\/b>. The nine-episode series will drop weekly on Thursdays exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers.<\/p>\n

THE STAND<\/em> is Stephen King\u2019s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd), the Dark Man.<\/p>\n

Based on King\u2019s best-selling novel of the same name, CBS All Access\u2019 THE STAND<\/i> will close with a new coda written by the famed author himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the two years we spent making THE STAND<\/i>, we all felt the responsibility of adapting what may be the most beloved work of one of the world\u2019s most beloved storytellers, but none of us could have imagined that Stephen King\u2019s 40-year-old masterpiece about a global pandemic would come to be so eerily relevant,\u201d said Benjamin Cavell, showrunner and executive producer. \u201cWe\u2019re honored to tell this sprawling, epic story, including a new coda that Stephen King has wanted to add for decades. We\u2019re so proud of this show and its attempt to find meaning and hope in the most uncertain of times. We can\u2019t wait to share it with the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Goldberg and Skarsg\u00e5rd, the series features a stellar ensemble cast, including James Marsden as Stu Redman, Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, Owen Teague as Harold Lauder, Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, Brad William Henke as Tom Cullen, Irene Bedard as Ray Bretner, Nat Wolff as Lloyd Henreid, Eion Bailey as Weizak, Heather Graham as Rita Blakemoor, Katherine McNamara as Julie Lawry, Fiona Dourif as Ratwoman, Natalie Martinez as Dayna Jurgens, Hamish Linklater as Dr. Jim Ellis, Daniel Sunjata as Cobb and Greg Kinnear as Glen Bateman.<\/p>\n

The series is produced by CBS Television Studios. Benjamin Cavell serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Taylor Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee and Richard P. Rubinstein. Josh Boone serves as director and an executive producer for the series premiere and final episode. Jake Braver, Jill Killington, Owen King, Knate Lee, and Stephen Welke serve as producers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
