With only five months to go until Europe\u2019s leading tech festival, TNW is touring several up-and-coming tech hubs across the Netherlands to uncover the best of Dutch tech ahead of its the flagship conference in June.<\/p>\n<p>First stop? Groningen. On Thursday, TNW\u2019s event took place during the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mxt2023.nl\/\">MXT 2023<\/a>, in collaboration with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/foundedingroningen.com\/\">Founded in Groningen<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/foundedinfriesland.com\/\">Founded in Friesland<\/a>. Since 2018, Groningen has seen a 12% annual growth in the number of startups, followed by Friesland at 8%, and Drenthe at 4%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you compare the current startup ecosystem in the North to ten years ago it\u2019s completely different, especially in respect to collaboration. These are:<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enatom_Groningen\"><\/span>Enatom (Groningen)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After almost ten years of collaboration with the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/enatom.com\/en\/\">Enatom<\/a> has developed a next-gen anatomy <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> for the medical education sector.<\/p>\n<p>Using pointcloud techniques and anatomical preparations provided by the UMCG, the app offers a realistic 3D visualization of the human body that can be used in computers, tablets, and VR\/AR glasses. Within the app, anatomical preparations can be studied all the way around, while it\u2019s also possible to annotate and create notes on the 3D models.<\/p>\n<p>This way, the Enatom app can be used by both teachers and students, facilitating flexible access to accurate knowledge in low-resource settings and releasing the pressure on the educational healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" srcdoc=\"&lt;style&gt;*{padding:0;margin:0;overflow:hidden}html,body{background:#000;height:100%}img{position:absolute;top:0;left:0;width:100%;height:100%;object-fit:cover;transition:opacity .1s cubic-bezier(0.4,0,1,1)}a:hover img+img{opacity:1!important}&lt;\/style&gt;&lt;a href=\" https:=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/img.youtube.com\/vi\/XTZFHHSuSpI\/hqdefault.jpg\" style=\"top: 50%;left:50%;width:68px;height:48px;transform:translate3d(-50%,-50%,0)\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nuwa_Groningen\"><\/span>Nuwa (Groningen)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The startup has developed a smart pen that, thanks to its three attached cameras, digitizes handwriting on any paper without the need for a dedicated surface or scanning. The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nuwapen.com\/\">Nuwa Pen<\/a> comes with an app that syncs handwriting with its digital copy.<\/p>\n<p>The team was inspired by the fact that although millions of people still love writing on paper, \u201cthe pen has been idle in innovation for the past few centuries,\u201d Marc Tuinier, the company\u2019s founder and CEO told TNW.<\/p>\n<p>And, according to Tuinier, the pen is just the start. \u201cThe algorithms and custom hardware we design set the foundation for building products for spatial computing. We believe the future of computing is one in which you\u2019re not confined to a desk (or lap), and we\u2019re going to create the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> to enable that type of work. Instead of offering a set, linear tool, the platform allows the user to be in charge.<\/p>\n<p>According to HIHAHO\u2019s CEO and owner Mark Visser, the platform\u2019s competitive advantage is the way its technology is built, making them the \u201conly \u2018intel inside\u2019-like solution in online interactive video worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur interactive layer technology is synchronized with all major online video players and video platforms. On the layers and therefore in the videos, you can create more than 20 different types of interactions, among which the possibility to integrate existing web applications like webshops for merchandise, e-learning tests, etc,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how the video platform works:<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"position: absolute !important; top: 0px !important; left: 0px !important; width: 100% !important; height: 100% !important;\" src=\"https:\/\/player.hihaho.com\/embed\/bb3d31e2-aa28-4920-aace-afb28cf1e88c\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hihaho.com\/interactions\/\">HIHAHO<\/a> now has a world-wide customer base of early adopters, and aims to become a leader in verticals such as entertainment, learning, marketing, and public information.<\/p>\n<p>The team expects the conference to help attract further interest from potential partners and investors, Visser told TNW.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"SusPhos_Leeuwarden\"><\/span>SusPhos (Leeuwarden)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.susphos.com\/\">SusPhos<\/a> is using chemistry to create a better world. Specifically, the startup upcycles phosphate-rich waste streams to generate high-quality alternatives that can replace current fossil-sourced products \u2014 all in a waste-free process.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s patented technology is compatible with various waste streams including agriculture, communal, and the food and beverage industry. Its first products will be flame retardants and specialty fertilizers.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to phosphate products, SusPhos produces recycled coagulants along with other chemicals, while it\u2019s currently preparing its first full-size plant.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"vimeo-player\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/536239871?h=fe9c48c49a\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Aeroscan_Leeuwarden\"><\/span>Aeroscan (Leeuwarden)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This startup aims to disrupt the real estate inspection and maintenance industry. Using data collected from drones, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aeroscan.nl\/about\">Aeroscan<\/a> produces 3D renderings of buildings.
