“#Le\u2019Veon Bell gripes about carries in Jets hamstring controversy<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n The Jets could not even get to the regular season before Le\u2019Veon Bell\u2019s carries became an issue.<\/p>\n

The running back took to Twitter<\/a> to gripe about his role in an intrasquad scrimmage on Wednesday. Bell played two series<\/a> in the scrimmage and then watched the rest from the sideline. Jets coach Adam Gase said Bell was pulled out as a precaution because he had hamstring tightness.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Gase said that to the media, Bell took to Twitter.<\/p>\n

The first tweet said \u201cain\u2019t nothin wrong with my hamstring.\u201d<\/p>\n

He followed that up with, \u201cits tough to stay loose when you do a bunch of standing around\u2026\u2026& I\u2019m used to GOINGGG.\u201d<\/p>\n

When someone replied that it was just practice, Bell said, \u201cexactly\u2026I PRACTICE for a GAME<\/a>!!! I need to PRACTICE to be great in GAMES!!! Duh.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Gase-Bell relationship has been a source of drama and fascination since former GM Mike Maccagnan signed Bell to a four-year, $52.5 million contract in 2019. After Maccagnan was fired, it came out that the Bell signing was a major disagreement between them. Gase did not feel the Jets should sign a running back for that much money.<\/p>\n

When Bell struggled in his first year as a Jet, many put the blame on Gase, who calls the plays. Bell has supported Gase publicly as recently as two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

But he was unhapp<\/a>y Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Jets held their first real scrimmage of training camp. Bell was in with the starting offense on the first series. He had one carry for no yards and then caught a short swing pass. The offense went three-and-out. Frank Gore was in on the second series. Bell came back for the third series. Quarterback Sam Darnold threw a deep pass down the sideline to Bell but the pass fell incomplete. That was his final play of the scrimmage.<\/p>\n

Gase indicated that Bell had to be forced out of practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just know right now we were being precautionary,\u201d Gase said. \u201cHe hasn\u2019t been somebody who really comes out of practice. I\u2019ll always have to hold him and be like, \u2018I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a good idea for you to go.\u2019 He\u2019ll try to go back out there. That\u2019s why we pulled him out. He won\u2019t do it on his own. He\u2019ll keep going out there until someone else pulls him out.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
