The fake scheme attempts to rush XRP investors\u2019 decision by stating that only the first 10,000 accounts will receive a higher ROI.<\/p>\n<p>The fake website provides a well-crafted clone of Ripple\u2019s website, ripple.com, by copying the original layout, and fonts and linking some of its previous blog posts. The impersonators also attempted to add more credibility to their posts by adding information about the importance of self-custody using major hardware wallets like Ledger or Trezor.<\/p>\n<p>The scam website has a lot of mirror domains like ripple.org.th or ripple.com.ve, targeting XRP users from all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>The cryptocurrency community has raised flags about a new scam scheme targeting XRP (XRP) investors through a fake staking program.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-01\/a5262d26-32a6-4107-a0d2-f8b26522e60f.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>A phishing website offering XRP staking services.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The XRP staking website scam is accompanied with imposter emails impersonating Binance and offering up to 31% ROI on XRP staking. One industry enthusiast, RipplePandaXRP, took to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> on Jan. 21 to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RipplePandaXRP\/status\/1616783173840691201?s=20&amp;t=WRegQ53BwloElkmBFiU3cg\">warn<\/a> the XRP community about the scam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not send your XRP to an unknown address and always check the address to see if it is a legit site,\u201d RipplePandaXRP wrote.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Ripple CEO: XRP lawsuit resolved by June, SEC conduct \u2018embarrassing\u2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That said, the real Binance exchange actually <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/en\/support\/announcement\/binance-defi-staking-adds-support-for-ltc-xrp-with-up-to-1-40-rewards-rates-519c076572614c88a191f23224652404\">offers<\/a> decentralized finance (DeFi) staking for XRP as part of its Binance Earn program. However, Binance\u2019s XRP DeFi staking program only allows users to earn up to 1.4% per year.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that XRP cannot be staked because it doesn\u2019t run with a proof-of-stake system like major PoS cryptocurrencies such as Ether (ETH).
