Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) officially launched his bid for the Senate on Thursday, making him the second entrant in the Democratic battle to potentially replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fight for our democracy and working families is part of the same struggle. Because if our democracy isn\u2019t delivering for Americans, they\u2019ll look for alternatives, like a dangerous demagogue who promises that he alone can fix it,\u201d Schiff said in a press release. \u201cWe need a fighter in the U.S. Senate who has been at the center of the struggle for our democracy and our economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Schiff\u2019s announcement follows Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) jumping into the race earlier this month. <\/p>\n<p>Feinstein has not said whether she will run for a sixth term in office, but she is widely expected to retire at the end of her current term. Others, including Reps. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), are also said to be plotting potential runs for the seat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have just tremendous respect for her and \u2014 more than respect \u2014 admiration and affection,\u201d Schiff told the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/politics\/story\/2023-01-26\/adam-schiff-senate-campaign\">Los Angeles Times<\/a> of Feinstein. He said he informed her of his plans and spoke to her on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think she will make her own decision about an announcement when she feels ready to do so,\u201d he said. \u201cShe\u2019s earned that right, and I certainly respect her to do that whenever she determines the time is right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> came two days\u00a0after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) followed through on his plan to boot Schiff, along with Rep.
