However, Microsoft is now switching up the formula with the release of <em>Hi-Fi Rush<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft held <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=e7eab128eb8d1c53e14db14f4c632447&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.xbox.com%2Fen-us%2F2023%2F01%2F25%2Fxbox-bethesda-developer-direct-everything-announced-recap%2F&amp;cuid=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=vg\">an \u201cXbox &amp; Bethesda Developer_Direct\u201d event<\/a> yesterday, showing off games in development from Microsoft-owned studios, like <em>Minecraft Legends<\/em> from Mojang Studios and <em>Redfall<\/em> from Arkane Austin. There was also a surprise game that had not been revealed or discussed previously: <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=e7eab128eb8d1c53e14db14f4c632447&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.xbox.com%2Fen-us%2Fgames%2Fstore%2Fhi-fi-rush%2F9nftc552k3gj&amp;cuid=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=vg\"><em>Hi-Fi Rush<\/em><\/a>. It\u2019s a rhythm-action game, where the environment, other characters, and your own attacks are synchronized to the beat of the music. I played the first hour last night, and I\u2019m definitely having fun with it.<\/p>\n<lite-youtube videoid=\"O2i1Vq3Odbg\" style=\"background-image: url('https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/O2i1Vq3Odbg\/hqdefault.jpg');\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"lty-playbtn\"><br \/>\n<span class=\"lyt-visually-hidden\">Play Video<\/span><br \/>\n<\/button>\n<\/lite-youtube><\/p>\n<p>Putting the game itself aside for a moment, what\u2019s interesting is how Microsoft \u2014 which owns ZeniMax, which owns developer Tango Gameworks \u2014 handled the game\u2019s release. It\u2019s not common <em>at all<\/em> for a game from a major developer to be announced and released on the same day. The initial announcement usually happens months, if not years, before a game is available. At some point before release, the publisher starts taking pre-orders, which can help development cross the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>However, subscription services like Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Extra are changing that strategy. Microsoft has already been adding its new games to Game Pass on the same day they are released, but that was still usually months after a given game was first revealed, possibly after much of the initial excitement daded away. <em>Hi-Fi Rush<\/em> is available to purchase normally on PC and Xbox, but the release is clearly positioned to help boost Game Pass. If you were already paying for Game Pass, you learned about a cool new game and could play it almost im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely afterwards at no extra cost. It\u2019s a much different way to learn about and enjoy games than what most of us are used to.<\/p>\n<p>The experiment seems to have been a success, at least from the outside. <em>Hi-Fi Rush<\/em> was trending on social media platforms like Twitter for hours, as discussions about the game\u2019s announcement evolved into sharing screenshots and recordings from the game itself. There are also over 30,000 people <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/directory\/game\/Hi-Fi%20Rush\">watching the game on Twitch<\/a> as I write this, which isn\u2019t bad at all for a game no one knew about until yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Could this be the start of a new trend in gaming?
