On some amendments, however, members requested a roll call vote.<\/p>\n<p>The House is expected to continue debating amendments Thursday night, then vote on the entire bill Friday, a longer process than a structured or closed rule.<\/p>\n<p>Conservative lawmakers had pushed for a more open legislative process in the lead up to \u2014\u00a0and during\u00a0\u2014 this month\u2019s protracted Speaker\u2019s race in an effort to empower rank-and-file members.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) touted the process during his press conference on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis week, you\u2019re going to see something that hasn\u2019t h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened in Congress in more than seven years: a bill is going to come to the floor under an open rule,\u201d McCarthy told reporters outside his office in the Capitol. \u201cThink about that. The entire time the Democrats were in the majority, those four years and three years in the past, you have not had a bill come to this floor under an open rule.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what we promised the American public. This is what we promised the members on both sides. There will be more openness, more opportunity for ideas to win at the end of the day, and as we move forward,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr3_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Some Democrats had positive reviews of the modified open rule process, noting that it gives them the opportunity to have their amendments added into legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I get some amendments passed then I\u2019m gonna like it a lot,\u201d Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), who submitted five amendments, told The Hill on Thursday, adding that she is \u201cabsolutely for a transparent process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) had similar thoughts.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr4_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI think it gives the Democrats an opportunity to offer amendments,\u201d Cohen said, noting that it could give the caucus a better chance of seeing their changes made than if the Rules Committee determined amendments.<\/p>\n<p>He both brushed aside any concerns about the process taking longer than usual.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
