(Oklahoma Highway Patrol via AP)<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) \u2014 The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/561482cabb0dd44c8c732650c28a3797\" data-ylk=\"slk:body of a child\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">body of a child<\/a> found in Oklahoma earlier this month was positively identified as 4-year-old Athena Brownfield, who investigators said was beaten to death by a caregiver on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n<p>The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation announced on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> Thursday that the state\u2019s chief medical examiner had made the identification.<\/p>\n<p>The girl was reported missing Jan. 10 when a postal carrier found her 5-year-old sister alone outside the home where she lived with Ivon Adams III and his wife, Alysia Adams. The couple had been caring for the sisters in Cyril, a city of around 800 people located about 70 miles (110 kilometers) southwest of Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n<p>Ivon Adams, 36, was arrested in Arizona on murder and child neglect charges and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/crime-arizona-oklahoma-580b6c3f793992ee6e7701924b4e3f8a\" data-ylk=\"slk:returned to Oklahoma\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">returned to Oklahoma<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"caas-figure\">\n<div class=\"caas-figure-with-pb\" style=\"max-height: 822px\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"caas-img-container caas-img-loader\" style=\"padding-bottom:110%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caas-img caas-lazy has-preview\" alt=\"Ivon Adams, 36, was arrested in Arizona on murder and child neglect charges and returned to Oklahoma. (Caddo County, Oklahoma, Sheriff\u2019s Office via AP)<\/figcaption><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>An affidavit for Ivon Adams\u2019 arrest alleges he beat the girl to death the night of Dec. 25 and later buried her on property he and his wife once owned near the town of Rush Springs, where authorities found the child\u2019s body. The document does not reveal why Ivon Adams was beating the girl.<\/p>\n<p>Alysia Adams, 31, is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/politics-oklahoma-60a003ec522769df2ae2b962bfa42db1\" data-ylk=\"slk:charged with two counts of child neglect\" class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">charged with two counts of child neglect<\/a> in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The bureau said its agents recovered the girl\u2019s body on Jan. 17 after police said the search had become a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/crime-oklahoma-c6baaf1245977474295d62f7fab0fe39\" data-ylk='slk:\u201crecovery operation.\"' class=\"link rapid-noclick-resp\">\u201crecovery operation.&#8221;<\/a> The search included a helicopter, boats, all-terrain vehicles, a specially trained ground team and a review of surveillance video from around Cyril.<\/p>\n<p>The bureau said it would not have additional comment on the case due to a gag order filed in Caddo County District Court.
