However, it can do that, and it has had the feature for <em>over a decade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>AirPlay is <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le\u2019s wireless video and audio <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, allowing you to stream music to wireless speaker or video content to a compatible TV or display \u2014 much like Google Chromecast. It\u2019s mostly used to stream music from iPhone or iPad apps to speakers and TVs, but it also has other uses. You can set an AirPlay device as the system audio output on Mac, set up multi-room audio,\u00a0use AirPlay as a second display on Mac, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>AirPlay is supported in iTunes for Mac and Windows, allowing you to stream the music you\u2019re playing to any AirPlay target \u2014 including compatible smart TVs, speakers, or even Mac computers. That\u2019s right, it works on Windows. Just click the AirPlay button to the right of the volume slider, and any AirPlay-compatible devices on your local network will show up. However, it has been known to have bugs on Windows <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forums.macrumors.com\/threads\/homepod-stops-playing-music-from-itunes-windows.2215843\/\">over<\/a> the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forums.macrumors.com\/threads\/windows-music-itunes-and-icloud.2303735\/#:~:text=AirPlay%20streaming%20from%20iTunes%2DWindows%20is%20garbage.\">years<\/a>, potentially causing speakers to not appear (which might be why some assume AirPlay is not on the Windows app at all).<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1431px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-868779 size-full\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Clipboard-Jan-27-2023-at-1.20-PM.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"iTunes image\" width=\"1431\" height=\"907\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">AirPlay on iTunes for Windows<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you never noticed that AirPlay button on Windows before now, you might be wondering when that showed up. Surprisingly, the answer is that it has always been there! AirPlay was introduced in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/newsroom\/2010\/09\/01Apple-Introduces-iTunes-10-With-Ping\/\">iTunes 10<\/a> on both Mac and Windows, in September 2010 \u2014 the same release that added the ill-fated \u201cPing\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> network. AirPlay replaced <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/170580\/000212.html\">the older \u2018AirTunes\u2019 feature<\/a> that was already in iTunes, which allowed local music streaming to devices like the AirPort Express.<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough, firing up iTunes 10 in a virtual machine shows my MacBook as a compatible AirPlay target. You can even play audio on other devices throughout your local network.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 2196px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-868790 size-full\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Clipboard-Jan-27-2023-at-1.11-PM.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"iTunes 10 on Windows 11\" width=\"2196\" height=\"1230\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">iTunes 10 from 2010 on Windows, with AirPlay support<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, iTunes for Windows can\u2019t act as an output for other AirPlay devices, and you can\u2019t stream your PC\u2019s full system audio through iTunes. You\u2019ll need third-party tools like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.airsquirrels.com\/airparrot\/\">AirParrot<\/a>\u00a0for those features.<\/p>\n<p>Apple Music is currently in development for Windows, which is expected to supersede iTunes once it\u2019s ready, just like the Music app replaced iTunes on Mac in 2019.
