Cole type beat\u201d \u2013 but it turns out the title was almost named after Andr\u00e9 3000 instead.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday (January 23), <em>HipHopDX\u00a0<\/em>caught up with Bvtman, the Brooklyn-bred beatmaker behind the track. He\u2019d been producing beats for around four years when he struck gold with \u201cProcrastination,\u201d but Cole wasn\u2019t who he originally had in mind.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit200\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cActually, I had Andre 3k in mind,\u201d he told <em>DX<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the conversation, he revealed the moment that Cole\u2019s manager Ibrahim \u201cIB\u201d Hamad contacted him to let him know about the life-changing song.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m on the highway with my girl and his mgr DMs me talking about, \u2018We need to connect. Cole did something for you,&#8217;\u201d Bvtman said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like nah, this ain\u2019t real.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cHe said, \u2018Yo, Cole needed inspiration one day and he found one of your beats so he did a verse that he really wants to put out.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh word?\u2019 I\u2019m still not believing it. And he hits me back up and he said, \u2018Yo, he did the verse on your beat. I\u2019m about to send it to you.\u2019 And then he shows me the text and I\u2019m like oh nah, this real.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The moment he got to hear the song was just as special.\u00a0\u201cI was in my kitchen and my girl is right there and I\u2019m like, \u2018Yo, hold up \u2014 you gotta listen to this with me!&#8217;\u201d Bvtman explained. \u201cSo I played it. I played it on my speakers and I\u2019m blasting it and I\u2019m like, \u2018Yo hold on son, hold on. This is crazy.\u2019 So I just start screaming! I started screaming, running around yelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And there was a special synergy with the song too \u2013 because despite being born and raised in Brooklyn, Bvtman had just moved to J. Cole\u2019s native North Carolina when he made the beat.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How J. The Roc Nation star explained he was struggling for inspiration one day when he searched \u201cJ. Cole type beat\u201d on YouTube and came across the producer\u2019s instrumental.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world,\u201d Cole wrote in the message. \u201cIt\u2019s a million artists out there right now just like me, hungry and searching every day for something to spark a word, a melody, a hook, a verse, a punchline, a way to vent, or a way to CUT THROUGH.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn a day when I couldn\u2019t find much motivation, I was looking for anything to inspire me. Out of curiosity, I typed in \u2018J. Cole type beat\u2019 into YouTube. Yours was the first I saw. I pressed play, focused, and wrote this. Cole\u2019s first offering since his contributions to Dreamville\u2019s <em>D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape<\/em>, which dropped last March.
