I\u2019m signed to nobody. Let\u2019s go,&#8217;\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.complex.com\/music\/2014\/02\/kanye-west-college-dropout-making-of\/spaceship\">GLC told<em> Complex<\/em> in 2014.<\/a> \u201cSo I helped Kanye out with his verse, helped him out with the direction of it and getting it together.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit300\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Cons also explained how the humbling relatability of \u201cSpaceship\u201d for listeners made it a hit, even though the Marvin Gaye-sampling track wasn\u2019t a single.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the story of \u2018Spaceship\u2019 is what people fell in love with,\u201d he claimed. \u201cI think the relatability of the 9-5 aspect of that song and not just the 9-5 aspect, but the evaluation of success and failure on that record is what a lot of people drew towards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a result, \u201cThe Good, The Bad, The Ugly\u201d was swapped out from <em>The College Dropout<\/em> and given to Consequence as his own.<\/p>\n<p>A <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/wGM6N0qXeu4\">music video was eventually released for the \u201cSpaceship\u201d<\/a> years later in 2009 and Kanye premiered unreleased footage from a separate \u201cSpaceship\u201d clip as part of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hypebeast.com\/2020\/6\/kanye-west-glc-consequence-spaceship-music-video\">2020\u2019s #WESTDAYEVER on his website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mobile outerAdHatch\">\n<div class=\"ad-border\">\n<div class=\"innerAdHatch\">\n<div id=\"contentUnit400\" class=\"adUnits\" inserted=\"shortcode\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Kanye\u2019s 2004 debut went on to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 441,000 album units sold in the first week.
