On Thursday, they were charged with second-degree murder and other offenses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy heart goes out to Tyre Nichols\u2019 family and to Americans in Memphis and across the country who are grieving this tremendously painful loss,\u201d Biden said. \u201cThe footage that was released\u00a0this evening\u00a0will leave people justifiably outraged. Those who seek justice should not to resort to violence or destruction. Violence is never acceptable; it is illegal and destructive.\u00a0I join Mr. Nichols\u2019 family in calling for peaceful protest.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr2_ab\"><\/aside>\n<p>Biden said Nichols\u2019 family deserves a \u201cswift, full, and transparent investigation,\u201d and he reiterated his calls for Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which would enact reforms to try and curb racial profiling and tie federal aid to officer conduct.<\/p>\n<p>White House officials held a call earlier Friday with mayors from 16 major cities to discuss preparations for possible protests after the footage was released and outline how the federal government could assist.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
