“#NBCUniversal probes Ron Meyer affair with actress Charlotte Kirk<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\n NBCUniversal has launched an investigation into recently ousted top executive Ron Meyer over his affair with aspiring actress Charlotte Kirk, known for her role in last year\u2019s downfall of Hollywood executive Kevin Tsujihara.<\/p>\n

The media<\/a> giant behind \u201cThis is Us\u201d and \u201cThe King of Staten Island\u201d has hired outside counsel to look into \u201cRon\u2019s behavior,\u201d including whether he used company funds or resources to cover up the affair, according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n

NBCU confirmed to The Post that an investigation is underway, but declined to provide further detail.<\/p>\n

The New York-based\u00a0media company announced the departure of its vice chairman and former president and COO of Universal Pictures on Aug. 18, saying Meyer had admitted to settling a lawsuit with a woman with whom he\u2019d had a brief \u201cconsensual affair.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources have since told The Post and other media outlets that the affair was with Kirk. A lawyer for Kirk has declined to comment.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, THR reported that the 75-year-old Meyer paid $2 million last year to settle a lawsuit over his 2013 affair with Kirk, who\u2019s now 28 years old. Meyer, who famously co-founded Hollywood talent agency CAA in 1975, confessed to the affair and settlement on Aug. 13 to NBCU Chief Executive Jeff Shell, the report said.<\/p>\n

At the time of his departure, Meyer said he made the payment \u201cunder threat\u201d because \u201cother parties\u201d had been trying to extort him. Those parties, THR said, included Kirk\u2019s former boyfriend Joshua Newton and her current fianc\u00e9, director Neil Marshall, who made their alleged attempts separately.<\/p>\n

Kirk was also at the center of a 2019 scandal involving Warner Bros. chief Tsujihara, who was fired amid claims that he had promised Kirk roles and auditions in exchange for sex. The claims were backed up by text messages, like this 2015 taunt from Kirk to Tsujihara: \u201cYou\u2019re very busy I know but when we were in that motel having sex u said u would help me and when u just ignore me like you\u2019re doing now it makes me feel used.\u201d<\/p>\n

As The Post has reported, those text messages raised questions over whether Kirk\u2019s sexual favors helped to grease a $450 million deal between Warner Bros. and RatPac-Dune Entertainment, a company owned by two of her early benefactors: director Brett Ratner and billionaire James Packer, whom Kirk reportedly also dated.<\/p>\n

According to THR, Kirk also had a brief relationship in 2012 with Steve Tisch, a heavyweight producer behind \u201cForrest Gump\u201d and \u201cThe Equalizer\u201d and chairman, co-owner and executive vp of the New York Giants.<\/p>\n

Just two weeks earlier, Comcast-owned NBCU ousted Paul Telegdy, who oversaw hit shows like \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent,\u201d following a THR expos\u00e9 alleging that he contributed to a \u201ctoxic\u201d work environment, including \u201chomophobic and misogynistic slurs\u201d and \u201csexual comments about the physical app<\/a>earance of network talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

NBCUniversal has also suffered a spate of coronavirus-induced layoffs. As The Post reported earlier this month, axed staffers were sent home in a fleet of black SUVs following the latest cuts. Revenue for the quarter that ended in June were down 25.4 percent as the pandemic shuttered theme parks and scuttled movie premieres.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
