Not only did they star in\u00a0<em>That \u201d70s Show<\/em> forever ago, they remained good friends who went on to make\u00a0<strong>Netflix<\/strong> sitcom\u00a0<em>The Ranch<\/em>, too. That show was still going when Masterson was accused by multiple women of sexual assault, leading to his character being written off.<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63d982d8b634f-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Through all that Ashton remained silent. But now the questions are coming up again.\u00a0<em>That \u201990s Show<\/em> has reunited every living cast member from the original show except for Masterson, whose controversial rape trial is kind of up in the air now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: Danny Masterson Rape Case A Mistrial??<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Now, with a few years to gather his thoughts, Ashton is finally ready to answer questions about his old friend. In a new interview with <em>Esquire<\/em>, he explained how the accusations and subsequent charges were so hard to come to terms with. See, despite Hyde being the bad boy of <em>That \u201970s Show<\/em>, Masterson was actually the mentor to all of the young stars, keeping them in line, off drugs and other harmful decisions. Ashton recalls:<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63d982d8b6355-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018One f**king rule: Don\u2019t do anything f**king stupid and f**k this up. Because if you f**k it up, you f**k it up for everybody.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, he broke that one we guess.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>Ashton says he\u2019s still in touch with Danny\u2019s little brother\u00a0<strong>Chris Masterson<\/strong> and reveals he\u2019s holding out hope. He\u00a0wants Masterson \u201cto be found innocent of the charges brought against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63d982d8b6359-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"highlight\">Wow. What??<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not that he\u2019s saying he wants he pal to be let off the hook for rape, he wants Masterson to\u00a0<em>be<\/em> innocent. We guess he figures if a court of law finds his friend not guilty, he can take that as the truth? And embrace him again? He\u2019ll just ignore all the accusations by these women? He told the mag:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, I can\u2019t know. I\u2019m not the judge. I\u2019m not the jury. I\u2019m not the DA. I\u2019m not the victim. And I\u2019m not the accused. And so, in that case, I don\u2019t have a space to comment\u2026 I just don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63d982d8b635d-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wow, that\u2019s a long way from just <em>believing women<\/em>. Obviously there are going to be nuances from case to case, but we\u2019re talking about multiple women with credible accounts. And he\u2019s just going to ignore those because he isn\u2019t the jury? We know it\u2019s so hard to square your idealized version of someone with the worst that they\u2019ve done, but when things like this h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en, you can\u2019t just bury your head in the sand because you want your friend back.<\/p>\n<p>Ashton did say, in deference to the victims:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI wholesale feel for anybody who feels like they were violated in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height:120px;width:100%;float:none;\">\n<div id=\"section-63d982d8b6360-paragraph-slot\" class=\"lazyload-unit\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c\u2026for anybody who feels like\u2026\u201d?? Damn. That\u2019s like when someone says they\u2019re sorry if you\u2019re offended. We\u2019re not sure he could have given a weaker, less meaningful statement if it had a laugh track behind it.
