Suzuki delivered a powerful call to action against climate change: \u201cWe don\u2019t know enough to know if it\u2019s too late, but it is very late.\u201d\u00a0He encouraged young adults to challenge old ways of thinking, reduce their carbon footprints, and protect the air, water and soil in their communities. Jason Maghanoy, the vice-president of digital solutions and business developer at SJC <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>, hosted the event and led the Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1xuvBp-E8Hws-26uP2ydjuq2XoWF-us11\/preview\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The second day of the summit was held on January 26, with networking, drinks and a fireside chat with Dr. Andrew Boozary from the University Health Network. Boozary discussed how the pandemic had widened existing health disparities faced by marginalized communities. He explained that the UHN prioritizes social health care, ensuring that marginalized groups have equitable access to family doctors, vaccines and public care. The evening began with networking and drinks, followed by a series of speeches from top thinkers about the future of innovation in Canada. Sarah Fulford, the editor-in-chief of <em>Maclean\u2019<\/em><em>s<\/em>, kicked off the panel with an opening speech discussing the profound impact <em>Maclean\u2019s<\/em> has had on the Canadian conversation.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1243205\" style=\"width: 3010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" class=\"wp-image-1243205 size-full lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/TDS_1700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2000\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah Fulford, the editor-in-chief of Maclean\u2019s, kicked off the panel with an opening speech.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>First up was Laura Miller, the leader of public policy and communications at Uber Canada, who discussed the future of work in Canada and innovation at Uber. She urged the government to create a \u201cnew labour classification category\u201d that provides drivers and food-delivery workers with flexibility, benefits and protection.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1243204\" style=\"width: 3010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1243204 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/TDS_1777.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2000\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Laura Miller, head of public policy &amp; communications at Uber, opening the Mini Talk series at OCAD University\u2019s waterfront campus talking about the future of work in Canada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Wes Hall, the chairman and founder of Weshall Investments and a Dragon on CBC\u2019s <em>Dragon\u2019s Den<\/em>, discussed the lack of diversity in corporate Canada. \u201cWe\u2019ve replaced white men with the same homogeneous group of people,\u201d he said, explaining that only 6.2 per cent of the 54 per cent of women in boardrooms and senior management positions are Black or Indigenous.\u00a0He urged those in positions of power and privilege to acknowledge the systemic racism that permeates all areas of society and to work towards\u00a0 finding long-term solutions to address it. \u201cI am 20 times more likely to be shot dead by the police, even if I am unarmed, even though I represent less than 10 per cent of the black population in Toronto,\u201d said Hall.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1243206\" style=\"width: 3010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1243206 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/TDS_1841.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2000\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wes Hall, chairman and founder of WeShall Investments Inc.; Kingsdale advisors of The BlackNorth Initiative; and dragon on CBC\u2019s Dragons\u2019 Den, discussing the impact of diversity and inclusion in Canada\u2019s sectors and industries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Next, the founder and principle of MASS LBP, Peter Macleod, discussed the state of democracy in Canada. He urged Canadians to take a peek into the future of responsible government.\u00a0\u201cYes to lowering the voting age so the next generation is heard,\u201d he said. \u201cYes to giving permanent residents the municipal vote\u2026and yes to voting on a public holiday because their democracy is something to celebrating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stefan Raos, head of public affairs and partnerships at Moderna Canada, said that public health will continue to innovate by embracing <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>. Moderna, for example, has partnered with the government of Canada to build the first mRNA facility outside the United States, in Quebec. \u201cThis partnership is now being used as a blueprint for the rest of the world and one that other countries are planning to replicate,\u201d says Raos.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1243207\" style=\"width: 3010px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-sizes=\"auto\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1243207 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/www.macleans.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/TDS_7804.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"3000\" height=\"2000\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stefan Raos, head of public affairs and partnerships at Moderna talking about Moderna\u2019s impact during this pandemic and their innovations for the next pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>John Duda, president of real estate management services at Colliers Canada, took to the stage to discuss the importance of building creative spaces after the pandemic to enhance productivity and wellness in the workplace. \u201cWhat we have in our recent survey was that 44 per cent of businesses no longer have any dedicated space for ideas, which is a dramatic shift from before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Mini Talk series ended with Ana Serrano, the president and vice-chancellor at OCAD University, who talked about the evolution of learning in Canada. She commended the education system for embracing technology and engaging students in a new environment during the pandemic. \u201cWe had a once-in-a-hundred-years opportunity to innovate like never before.
