Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roved on the Apple App Store.<\/p>\n<p>The Damus team <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/damusapp\/status\/1620541333269286912?s=20&amp;t=iNCxrn7bcCPc3UjJ7FC2iw\">confirmed<\/a> the approval to its 11,500 Twitter followers on Jan. 31, following what it claims was at least three rejections from the Big Tech player.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, Twitter co-founder and Nostr <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1603535971114487816\">contributor<\/a> Jack Dorsey shared the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> with his 6.5 million followers, with the entrepreneur labeling it as a \u201cmilestone\u201d moment for open source protocols:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">a milestone for open protocols&#8230;<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/nostr?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#nostr<\/a> is now officially on the Apple App Store with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/damusapp?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@damusapp<\/a>:<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GQmvPE5nfX\">https:\/\/t.co\/GQmvPE5nfX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 jack (@jack) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1620552041600000000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 31, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>The app dubs itself the \u201csocial network you control\u201d and is a messaging service built on Nostr \u2014 a decentralized network enabling encrypted, end-to-end private messaging, among other things. <\/p>\n<p>It plans to become a social media platform with uncensored content. It also has built-in payments through the Bitcoin (BTC) layer-2 Lightning network <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/protos.com\/what-is-nostr-and-why-do-bitcoiners-love-it\/\">according<\/a> to a Jan. 27 post from Protos.<\/p>\n<p>No servers run the network. Instead, Nostr utilizes decentralized relays to distribute messages. <\/p>\n<p>Nostr developers are also focused on using Bitcoin and the Lightning Network to prevent Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) spam attacks on the Damus app.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2023-02\/e2932667-89c9-4ea4-b11a-40f258adcf04.jpg\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The User Interface of Damus displayed on an iPhone.
