CEO Mark Zuckerberg blamed the layoffs on aggressive hiring during the pandemic, when Meta&#8217;s business boomed because people were stuck at home, scrolling on their phones and computers, glued to social media. But as the lockdowns ended and people started going outside again, revenue growth began to falter.<\/p>\n<p>Meta&#8217;s mega stock buyback <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared to ease investors&#8217; concerns over the company&#8217;s spending on the &#8220;metaverse&#8221;\u2014an immersive digital universe, viewed through a headset, that Zuckerberg predicts will eventually replace smartphones as the primary way people use <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meta Platforms Inc. said it earned $4.65 billion, or $1.76 per share, in the final three months of 2022. That&#8217;s down 55% from $10.29 billion, or $3.67 per share, a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts were expecting earnings of $2.26 per share, according to a poll by FactSet.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue fell 4% to $32.17 billion from $33.67 billion. Analysts were expecting $31.55 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Meta&#8217;s shares jumped almost 18% in after-hours trading.
