After testing the system for months, anyone trying to use Netflix outside the account\u2019s \u201cprimary location\u201d will have trouble.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Netflix <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=14d03d76e0a6285761e58439513dfd19&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fhelp.netflix.com%2Fen%2Fnode%2F123277%2Fus&amp;cuid=xid:{xid}&amp;___trxnet=vg\">updated the FAQ section<\/a> on its website, detailing how it will prevent users from sharing their accounts. People trying to use Netflix from a different location will \u201cneed to use their own account.\u201d In some cases, devices trying to access someone else\u2019s account could even be temporarily blocked from using Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>The system is a bit convoluted, but here\u2019s how the company explained the system for those worried about being unable to access Netflix.\u00a0You\u2019ll need to watch something on Netflix at your home location at least once a month on your phone, tablet, laptop, or TV to make it a \u201ctrusted device.\u201d Any device that\u2019s not \u201ctrusted\u201d will get blocked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201cTo ensure uninterrupted access to Netflix, connect to the Wi-Fi at your primary location, open the Netflix <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> or website, and watch something at least once every 31 days. This creates a trusted device so you can watch Netflix, even when you\u2019re away from your primary location.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>If you are away from your primary location for an extended period of time, your device may be blocked from watching Netflix. You can request a temporary access code to continue watching.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ing but using a trusted device, you\u2019ll be okay for a short time, but we\u2019re not sure how long. For what it\u2019s worth, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> TV uses a similar system and recognizes when you\u2019re away from home with a simple pop-up while you watch content.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix accounts are only meant to be used within one household. If you\u2019re traveling for work or on vacation but want to log in at the hotel, you can request a temporary code that\u2019ll let Netflix play away from home for seven days. Again, it\u2019s a bit confusing. And if a device gets blocked, you\u2019ll need to contact Netflix to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n<p>If you share a Netflix account with family or friends outside your household, they\u2019re about to get blocked. We\u2019ve heard reports of a new \u201cpaid sharing\u201d system that could roll out soon, and you\u2019ll have the option to pay an additional fee to allow \u201csub accounts\u201d on your system outside of your household.<\/p>\n<p>No, Netflix will not automatically start charging you a fee for people trying to connect outside the household, but they\u2019ll likely be blocked from using the app. We\u2019re assuming they\u2019ll send a notice soon detailing how account owners can add people.<\/p>\n<p>If you share Netflix with a bunch of people, tell them to enjoy it while they can.
