The bank is looking for a top executive to work with asset tokenization.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 30, HSBC <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mycareer.hsbc.com\/en_GB\/jobsforemployees\/PipelineDetail\/GPBW-Product-Director-Tokenisation\/176954\">opened<\/a> the GPBW product director of tokenization position with a hiring process scheduled to end by Feb. 13. According to the job de<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion, the \u201ctokenization director would be responsible for \u201cdesigning and implementing\u201d a global tokenization proposition and representing the bank in front of regulators and digital assets ecosystem. <\/p>\n<p>The candidate should possess knowledge of digital assets, especially asset tokenization and custody, with \u201cdeep insights\u201d into the industry and key geographical wealth markets. <\/p>\n<p>This marks HSBC\u2019s accelerating interest in digital currencies, which had been manifested earlier in a number of collaborations. In April 2022, the bank rolled out its metaverse investment product for wealthy clients in Singapore and Hong Kong. Earlier, it <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cftc.gov\/About\/AdvisoryCommittees\/GMAC\">joined<\/a> the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission Global Markets Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Bank of Japan to trial digital yen with three megabanks<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, the main area of HSBC\u2019s interest lies in the global development of the central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). In September 2021, HSBC Group CEO Noel Quinn outlined the firm\u2019s commitment to supporting central bank digital currencies while stressing skepticism over risks associated with cryptocurrencies and stablecoins.<\/p>\n<p>The British bank participated in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York\u2019s 12-week proof-of-concept CBDC pilot. It was\u00a0present at the launch of the Universal Digital Payment Network \u2014 a distributed ledger <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> (DLT) platform that would serve a similar purpose to the SWIFT network for banks but\u00a0for stablecoins and CBDCs.
