Sawyer Award (an Oscar statuette) for his \u201csubstantial, extensive and innovative lens designs which have had lasting impact in motion picture cinematography.\u201d Additionally, Ryan Laney\u00a0will receive an award of commendation (special plaque) for his inventive use of AI-driven facial <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> to give subjects a digital \u201cdisguise\u201d to protect the identities while preserving their facial emotion in documentary filmmaking, as seen in 2020\u2019s\u00a0<em>Welcome to Chechnya<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Scientific and Engineering awards (Academy plaques) will be presented to\u00a0Larry Barton\u00a0and\u00a0Ben Wilcox\u00a0 for the cinematography electronics CineTape distance measurement system;\u00a0and Howard Preston\u00a0and Bernie Butler-Smith for the Preston Cinema Systems Light Ranger 2<em>,<\/em> which also provides focus distance information.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Technical Achievement awards (Academy certificates) will be presented to\u00a0Howard Jensen,\u00a0Danny Cangemi\u00a0and\u00a0John Frazier\u00a0for the development of the portable 60- and 100-foot Rain Bars system used for practical rain in movie making; Mark Hills\u00a0and\u00a0Jim Vanns\u00a0for the FQ render farm management system at VFX studio Framestore;\u00a0and Matt Chambers, for his contributions to render farm management system design at<em> <\/em>Sony Pictures Imageworks and Weta. Technical Achievement Awards also will be handed out to S\u00e9bastien Deguy, Christophe Soum, Sylvain Paris and Nicolas Wirrmann\u00a0for Adobe Substance 3D Designer software; and David Eberle,\u00a0Theodore Kim,\u00a0Fernando de Goes\u00a0and\u00a0Audrey Wong\u00a0for the Fizt2 elastic simulation system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Said Barbara Ford Grant, chair of the Scientific and Technical Awards Committee,\u00a0\u201cThis year we honor achievements spanning accomplishments from pioneering methods in practical rain effects to career-long contributions in optical design for cinematography to humanistic-driven AI techniques.
