Believe me, I\u2019ve been in many situations where it\u2019s like, \u2018Come in here little girl, sit on the bed.\u2019 But my mom would say, \u2018If someone answers the door in a hotel robe and you\u2019re going for an interview, don\u2019t go in. But if you do go in, get the job.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    She continued, \u201cThat\u2019s a horrible thing to say but that\u2019s how I was. I skated on the edges of destruction. I just had this sense of value and self-worth. But I think a lot of people don\u2019t have that or they weren\u2019t taught that. Thank God for the #MeToo movement because things have changed and people are much more careful and respectful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Regarding her time working with <em>Playboy<\/em> and criticisms she had received for her job choice, Anderson said she wasn\u2019t thinking \u201cOh, these men are sexist.\u201d She clarified that at that time, she was thinking, \u201c\u2019Oh, my gosh, I\u2019m here in this industry, this is how it works. I was in <em>Playboy<\/em>, so maybe I deserve it.\u2019 I was coming from a much more innocent place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cI wasn\u2019t stupid \u2014 naive maybe \u2014 but I had a pretty strong sense of self. I always felt that when I was older, I would recognize myself, that I just had to get through that time,\u201d she added. \u201cI didn\u2019t know that I was going to do anything more than <em>Playboy<\/em>. I didn\u2019t know if I was going to go back home and be a waitress. So when people say, \u2018How did you choose this job?\u2019 Or, \u2018How did you choose this man?\u2019 It\u2019s like, they chose me. I was just living every day and trying to survive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    The <em>Barb Wire<\/em> actress recently told <em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/pamela-anderson-interview-hugh-hefner-respect-2023-p05f6ljzz\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/pamela-anderson-interview-hugh-hefner-respect-2023-p05f6ljzz\">The Times of London<\/a><\/em> that she believes Hugh Hefner, the founder of <em>Playboy<\/em> magazine, is the only person to ever treat her with \u201ccomplete and utter respect.\u201d She also said the reason for doing her first <em>Playboy<\/em> cover was because, \u201cI was painfully shy, and I hated that feeling. That\u2019s why I did it. I just didn\u2019t want that feeling anymore. Doing that first photoshoot gave me this little kind of portal on what it felt like to be a sensual woman. My sexuality was mine. I took my power back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Throughout her memoir, <em>Love, Pamela<\/em>, Anderson gets deeply personal about her past and childhood trauma, something that can be challenging to revisit. She said that when her mother read the book, \u201cshe started acting out, just jabs and cruel remarks. It was coming out in all sorts of different ways.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    \u201cIt hurts people and I\u2019m sorry for that,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut I needed to look at my life from beginning to end. The one fortunate thing about being in the public eye is that I\u2019m able to tell my story, and hopefully it\u2019s inspirational to people. \u2026 We need to tell our stories. And I hope that\u2019s encouraging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n    Anderson has also previously been adamant that she would not watch the Netflix documentary <em>Pamela, a Love Story<\/em>, but she told <em>Interview<\/em> that \u201cI\u2019m going to watch it one day because I\u2019m very proud that my sons were involved in it, and I want to see their interviews.
