Only 18 people have achieved the status. Davis is the fourth Black person, alongside Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend and Jennifer Hudson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<section class=\"embed-widget embedWidget embed-widget--medium\"><\/section>\n<p class=\"\">Davis already has an Oscar, two Tonys and an Emmy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cOh, my God,&#8221; Davis said Sunday. &#8220;I wrote this book to honor the 6-year-old Viola, to honor her, to honor her life, her joy, her trauma, her everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Davis won the Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2017 for her role as housewife Rose Maxson in 2016\u2019s \u201cFences.\u201d She won an Emmy in 2015 for her role as Annalise Keating in &#8220;How to Get Away with Murder,&#8221; making her the first Black woman to win the lead drama actress award. She has two Tony awards, for \u201cKing Hedley II\u201d and the Broadway production of \u201cFences.\u201d<\/p>\n<section class=\"embed-widget embedWidget embed-widget--medium\"><\/section>\n<p class=\"\">Reflecting on her career and Grammy nod<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grammy.com\/news\/meet-the-first-time-grammy-nominee-viola-davis-finding-me-potential-egot\"> in a January interview<\/a> with the Recording Academy, Davis said achieving EGOT status would be a \u201chuge accomplishment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI think that everybody wants their life to mean something,\u201d she said. \u201cI believe in the Cherokee birth blessing, which is, \u2018May you live long enough to know why you were born.\u2019 I do believe that you literally wanna blow a hole through this world in whatever way you can.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"endmark\">\u201cA lot of people don\u2019t know how to do that. A lot of people haven\u2019t found that thing that they\u2019re passionate about, that they can do. Some have. But we all are looking for that, blowing a hole through this earth before we leave it. I think about that in my work a lot. I really found that thing that I love to do.
